Schroeder's Cat
Schroeder's Cat were a two-piece indie rock band formed by Simon Kenny (alias Si Schroeder) and Darragh O'Grady in Dublin, Ireland, whose influences included My Bloody Valentine. They released a self-titled four-track EP in 1998 on LA label Emperor Norton Records owned by California oil heir Peter Getty, the grandson of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, where their label mates included Ladytron and the soundtracks to the Sofia Coppola films The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. ''Lost in Translation: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack'' is the soundtrack album to the 2003 film '' Lost in Translation'', directed by Sofia Coppola. The soundtrack was supervised by Brian Reitzell and was released on September 9, 2003, through Emperor Norton Records. It contains five songs by Kevin Shields, including one from his group My Bloody Valentine. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include Air, Death in Vegas, Squarepusher, Phoenix and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Background Coppola said much of the soundtrack consisted of songs that she "liked and had been listening to", and she worked with Reitzell to make Tokyo dream pop mixes to assist her writing of the film. Several of the tracks in these mixes were ultimately included in the soundtrack, including "Just Like Honey", as well as "Tommib" by Squarepusher and "Girls" by Death in Vegas. My Bloody Valentine (often stylised as my bloody valentine) is an Irish-English rock band formed in Dublin in 1983 and consisting since 1987 of founding members Kevin Shields (vocals, guitar, sampler), Colm Ó Cíosóig (drums, sampler) with Bilinda Butcher (vocals, guitar) and Debbie Googe (bass). Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s.
