School (South Korean TV Series)
''School'' () is a South Korean anthology series created by the KBS Drama Production Group for KBS2. The first season premiered in 1999, and the series lasted for four straight years (until 2002). After a ten-year hiatus, the franchise rebooted with a new season in 2012 tiled as '' School 2013''. Since then 3 other series: '' Who Are You: School 2015'', '' School 2017'' and '' School 2021'' were launched. Background School series is a Korean drama series about the struggles that students go through in course of their formative years in schools. It mainly focuses on portraying realistic issues that South Korea's youths faces, such as the corrupt education system, teen suicide, corporal punishment, academy and tutoring culture, career prospects and bullying. The series has been noted for launching the careers of rookie actors. The Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) () is the national broadcaster of South Korea. Founded in February 1927, it is one of the leading South Korean television and radio broadcasters. KBS operates seven radio networks, ten television channels, and multiple Internet-exclusive services. Its flagship terrestrial television stations KBS1 broadcasts on channel 9, while KBS1 sister channel KBS2, an entertainment oriented network, broadcasts on channel 7. South Korea has one time zone, Korea Standard Time ( UTC+09:00), which is abbreviated KST. South Korea currently does not observe daylight saving time, but experimented with it during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. History In 1434, inventor Jang Yeong-sil developed Korea's first automatic water clock, which King Sejong adapted as Korea's standard timekeeper. It is likely that Koreans used water clocks to keep time prior to this invention, but no concrete records of them exist. In 1437, Jang Yeong-sil, with Jeong Cho, created a bowl-shaped sundial called the ''angbu ilgu'' (Hangul: 앙부일구), which King Sejong had placed in public so anyone could use it.
