School-Home Support
School-Home Support (SHS) is a British charity founded in 1984 to help disadvantaged children and young people overcome barriers to education. The charity works with schools, local authorities and families, aiming to look "beyond the classroom" to understand and tackle low school attendance and other issues affecting children's learning. It emphasises the importance of home experience on a child's attainment at school and works to resolve issues including poverty, lack of housing, domestic violence, and substance misuse. During the 2015/16 academic year, SHS worked with over 11,000 families. SHS is a UK registered charity, number 1084696. Its motto is "Children in school, ready to learn. Whatever it takes." Ken Olisa, the first black Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, and Tony Adams, former football player and captain for Arsenal and England, are patrons of the charity. Ken Olisa
Sir Kenneth Aphunezi Olisa (born 13 October 1951) is a British businessman and philanthropist. He is the first mixed heritage Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London. He founded and led the AIM-listed technology merchant bank Interregnum and now leads Restoration Partners. Ken Olisa is Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists and has served and serves on several boards of philanthropic, educational and regulator organisations. Sir Kenneth with his wife endowed the Olisa Library at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Lord-Lieutenant Of Greater London
The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London is the personal representative of the monarch, currently King Charles III, in Greater London. Each Lord-Lieutenant is assisted in, largely ceremonial, duties by Deputy Lieutenants whom he appoints; the Lieutenancy Office is based at Whitehall, London SW1. The Lord-Lieutenant is also assisted by a Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet, one from each branch of the main cadet forces, Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and Sea Cadet Corps. Tony Adams
Tony Alexander Adams (born 10 October 1966) is an English former football manager and player. Adams played for Arsenal and England, captaining both teams. He spent his entire playing career of 19 years as a centre back at Arsenal, making 672 total appearances. He is considered one of the greatest Arsenal players of all time by the club's own fans and was included in the Football League 100 Legends. Sophie Lara Winkleman (born 5 August 1980) is an English actress. She is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of Prince Michael of Kent, a paternal cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. Early life Winkleman was born in Primrose Hill, London. Her father, Barry Winkleman, published the ''Times Atlas of World History'', and her mother is the children's author Cindy Black. The City and Guilds of London Institute is an educational organisation in the United Kingdom. Founded on 11 November 1878 by the City of London and 16 livery companies – to develop a national system of technical education, the institute has been operating under royal charter (RC117), granted by Queen Victoria, since 1900.
