The Apostolic Movement of Schoenstatt (german: Schönstatt-Bewegung) is a Catholic Marian movement founded in Germany in 1914 by Fr Joseph Kentenich, who saw the movement as a means of spiritual renewal for the Catholic Church. The movement is named after the small locality of Schönstatt (which means "beautiful place") which is part of the town of Vallendar near Koblenz, in Germany. As a movement of renewal within the Catholic Church, Schoenstatt works to revitalize the Church and society in the spirit of the Gospel. Joseph Kentenich
Peter Joseph Kentenich, SAC (16 November 1885 – 15 September 1968) was a Pallottine priest and founder of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement. He is also remembered as a theologian, educator, and pioneer of a Catholic response to an array of modern issues, whose teachings underwent a series of challenges from political and ecclesiastical powers. He attempted to teach Christians how to live out their faith. His case for sainthood is currently at the diocesan level in the diocese of Trier, pending the compilation of his writings and correspondences. Pilgrim Mother Campaign
The Pilgrim Mother Campaign, also known as the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign, is an apostolic work founded by the Servant of God John Pozzobon and coordinated by the Schoenstatt Movement, counting presently more than 30 million members in over one million groups spanning 120 nations of the world. Overview The Campaign consists in the regular visit of an image of the Mother Thrice Admirable of Schoenstatt Madonna to families, schools, hospitals and all places where families or people accept to receive her. It is carried out by lay volunteers - missionaries and coordinators - organized at the parish, diocesan, regional or linguistic levels. The Secular Institute of Schoenstatt Fathers (ISch) is a Catholic religious institute founded by the German Pallottine priest Josef Kentenich, as a part of the Schoenstatt Movement. It was canonically erected on July 18, 1965. It is a secular institute of pontifical right. History The Schoenstatt Movement arose at the beginning of the 20th century in the Pallottine Seminary in a place named . It initially consisted mainly of Pallottine students (seminarians). The Pallottine Fathers and the Schoenstatt Movement remained closely connected for almost 50 years. Pallottine Fathers held spiritual functions in the Schoenstatt Movement. John Pozzobon
John Pozzobon (in Portuguese ''João Pozzobon'', 12 December 1904 – 27 June 1985) was a Catholic permanent deacon and the starter of the Schoenstatt's Pilgrim Mother Campaign (also known as the Rosary Campaign), today present in more than 100 countries in the world. His beatification process is ongoing. Life Childhood A son of Italian immigrants established in Southern Brazil, John was born in São João do Polêsine to simple and pious peasant family, that prayed the Rosary every evening. The third of nine brothers, when he was 10 years old he says to his father that he would like to become a Catholic priest. For that reason, he goes to study in the Pallotines seminary in Vale Vêneto, not far from his hometown. Franz Reinisch SAC (February 1, 1903 – August 21, 1942) was an Austrian Catholic priest who refused to take the oath of allegiance to Hitler, for which he was executed. He was a member of the Schoenstatt Movement. Life Early life Franz Reinisch was born on 1 February 1903 in Feldkirch, Austria, and baptized the next day. His parents dedicated the baptism to the Blessed Mother. Reinisch grew up with two brothers and two sisters. His father, Councilor Dr. Franz Reinisch, a finance official, moved often while Reinisch was a child. The family of Feldkirch moved to Bolzano, Bruneck and finally to Innsbruck.
