Schleigho
Schleigho is a four-piece band centered on New York City, consisting of Jesse Gibbon (keyboards), Suke Cerulo (guitar, flute, and saxophone), Erik Egol (drums) and Drew McCabe (bass). Their music could be described as a fusion of acid jazz and funk, and is mostly instrumental and improvisational. Earlier albums including ''Farewell to the Sun'' and ''In the Interest of Time'' featured original member Drew McCabe on bass. Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century. Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band from Long Island, New York. The band was formed by guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey in 1999. The band's members currently are Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), John Nolan (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals), Shaun Cooper (bass guitar) and Mark O'Connell (drums), accompanied by Nathan Cogan (guitar) for their live performances. Soulive is a funk/jazz trio that originated in Woodstock, New York, and is known for its solos and catchy, upbeat songs. The band consists of Eric Krasno (guitar), Alan Evans (drums) and Neal Evans (Hammond B3 organ, bass keys, clavinet). Jazz Mandolin Project
The Jazz Mandolin Project was an acoustic jazz fusion group formed in Burlington, Vermont, by Jamie Masefield in 1993. Masefield played banjo with dixieland bands, including the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, before switching to mandolin. In 1996, the debut album consisted of Gabe Jarrett on drums and Stacey Starkweather on bass. The following year the group broke up, and Masefield kept the name with different musicians: bassist Chris Dahlgren and drummer Jon Fishman from Phish. They recorded the next album, ''Tour de Flux''. Masefield described the band's music as " very contrapuntal stuff, like a three-way conversation." The Project's next album, ''Xenoblast'' was on Blue Note Records, though it was less a jazz album and more improvisational jazz rock, featuring the guitarist Trey Anastasio of Phish.
