Schilberg (Echt)
Schilberg (Limburgish: Sjaelberg) is a neighborhood in the Dutch Limburgish village of Echt. It is home to Our Lady of Schilberg, a chapel and pilgrimage site. It was home to 1,870 people in 2021. Etymology Schilberg was first mentioned around 1300 as Scheylberg, and means "leaning hill". Description The neighborhood lies west of Pey village center and the N276 and east of Echt and the Roermond-Sittard railroad line. In the southeast lies the hamlet of Slek, in the northeast lies the residential area of Hingen. Schilberg is partly surrounded by agricultural fields, within walking distance from nature reserves. When the neighborhood was still rural, it consisted mainly of farmhouses and small houses for miners and employees of neighboring tile factories. Chapel Of Our Lady, Echt
The Onze Lieve-Vrouwekapel in Echt is a 17-century chapel in Schilberg, a hamlet between Pey and Echt in the Dutch province of Limburg. The chapel was declared a national monument. It is a pilgrimage site for the celebration of the Nativity of Mary. Desc The brick chapel bears a plaque commemorating its construction in 1691. The stained-glass windows were replaced after World War II by Jacques Verheyen in 1947. The chapel also houses a 15th-century polychrome statue of the Virgin Mary, its patron. The Stations of the Cross were also made by Verheyen in 1947, and are located on the outside of the chapel. A wooden crucifix from about 1700 is found on the chapel's exterior. Echt-Susteren (; li, Ech-Zöstere ) is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. Echt-Susteren was created in 2003 by merging the former municipalities of Echt and Susteren. Pey, Netherlands
Pey (also: ''Peij''; ) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Echt-Susteren. It is located to the east of the Echt and is separated from Echt by the railway line. It is located about north of Sittard. History The village was first mentioned in 1403 as Pede, and means "swamp". The popular interpretation as peace is not correct. The official spelling of the village is Pey, but Peij is still often used. Pey is a road village which started to develop in the 19th century on the road from Echt to Waldfeucht, Germany. The Catholic Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church is three aisled basilica church in Gothic Revival style. It was built between 1856 and 1861, and was designed by Pierre Cuypers. Echt, Netherlands
Echt (; ) is a city in the Dutch municipality of Echt-Susteren in the province of Limburg, Netherlands. It was a municipality itself until it merged with the municipality of Susteren on 1 January 2003. The municipality of Echt had about 19,300 inhabitants and an area of about 75,13 square km.
