Schifflange
Schifflange ( lb, Schëffleng , german: Schifflingen) is a commune and town in south-western Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette. , the town of Schifflange, which lies in the west of the commune, has a population of 9,332. Schifflange was formed on 15 August 1876, when it was detached from the commune of Esch-sur-Alzette. The law forming Schifflange was passed on the 6 July 1876. Steelworks A steelworks in Schifflange was founded in 1871 by the Metz family as ''Usine METZ (Esch-Schifflange)'', the steelworks became part of ARBED in 1911. In the 1980s the plant was converted to the continuous casting of blooms, then in the 90s an electric furnace installed. In 1994 the company merged with the Belgian company '' Métallurgique et Minière de Rodange-Athus'' (MMRA) forming ARES (''Aciéries Rodange Esch-Schifflange''). Miralem Pjanić
Miralem Pjanić (born 2 April 1990) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for UAE Pro League club Sharjah and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Pjanić started his professional career at Metz being there for one season. He signed for side Lyon in 2008 before signing for Roma in 2011 after three seasons at Lyon. During his time in Rome, Pjanić came to be recognized as one of the best midfielders in Serie A. In 2016, Pjanić joined Juventus, and has since been considered an integral player for the team, winning four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, and being named in the Serie A Team of the Year for 2015–16, 2016–17, 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons. Monique Scheier-Schneider
Monique Scheier-Schneider (born 15 October 1954) is a Luxembourg ice hockey administrator. She has served as president of Tornado Luxembourg and negotiated the team's entry into the French Division 3. She became secretary of the Luxembourg Ice Hockey Federation, managing the Luxembourg men's national ice hockey team at international competitions. She was later elected to the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) council, oversaw the 2010 Winter Olympics Women's ice hockey tournament, and presided over the 2011 IIHF Women's World Championship. She was honored by the IIHF with the Paul Loicq Award in 2015 for her contributions to international ice hockey. The Aciéries Réunies de Burbach-Eich-Dudelange ( French; literally "United Steelworks of Burbach-Eich-Dudelange"), better known by its acronym ARBED, was a major Luxembourg-based steel and iron producing company. Rodange
Rodange (german: Rodingen) is a town in the commune of Pétange, in south-western Luxembourg. It lies next to the border with Belgium, across which is the town of Athus. The town is to the south-west of the town of Pétange and to the west of the smaller town of Lamadelaine. , Rodange has a population of 5,505, making it the 18th-most populous town in Luxembourg.
