The New South Wales State Heritage Register, also known as NSW State Heritage Register, is a heritage list of places in the state of New South Wales, Australia, that are protected by New South Wales legislation, generally covered by the Heritage Act 1977 and its 2010 amendments. The register is administered by the Heritage Council of NSW via Heritage NSW, a division of the Government of New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment. The register was created in 1999 and includes items protected by heritage schedules that relate to the State, and to regional and to local environmental plans. Electoral District Of Darlington (New South Wales)
Darlington was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, named after the inner Sydney suburb of Darlington. It was first created in 1894 and abolished in 1904. History Prior to 1894 the suburb of Darlington was part of the Redfern which returned four members. Multi-member constituencies were abolished in the 1893 redistribution, resulting in the creation of 76 new districts, including Darlington. Redfern was reduced in size and parts were given to the new districts of Darlington and Waterloo. The district was proposed to be called Redfern West, before the name Darlington was chosen. The suburb was regarded as a slum and was the most densely populated suburb of Sydney. Redfern was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, created in 1880, and named after and including the Sydney suburb of Redfern. It extended to Botany Bay and was bordered by Rainbow Street ( Redfern), Anzac Parade, the southern edge of Moore Park, South Dowling Street, Cleveland Street, City Road, King Street (Newtown), Alexandra Canal and Cooks River. William Schey
William Francis Schey (1857–1913) was an Australian politician. Early life Schey was born in England and educated in London. After a short time in New Zealand, Schey arrived in Sydney as first mate of a ship in 1875. After tiring of work on the seas, Schey worked as a chainman for the Harbours Department then joined the railways, after becoming the first paid secretary of the Railways and Tramways Association. Political career Schey entered the New South Wales Parliament in 1887, serving until his electoral defeat in 1898. Schey initially served as one of four members for the Electoral district of Redfern in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. He was not a strong supporter of free trade and had disagreements with the leader Sir Henry Parkes. The Scheyville National Park () is a protected national park that is located in the northwestern suburbs of Sydney in New South Wales, in eastern Australia. Conscription in Australia, also called mandatory military service or National Service, has a controversial history dating back to the first years of nationhood. Military conscription was abolished by Australian law in 1972. The Officer Training Unit, Scheyville (OTU Scheyville, pronounced Skyville) was a military training establishment for officers of the Australian Army. Located in the area of in the Hawkesbury region of Sydney, Australia, the establishment was opened in April 1965 to train officer cadets who had been called up for service under the national service scheme and offered a short but rigorous commissioning course for trainees, tailored to meet the Army's need to increase the number of junior officers being produced in order to meet commitments to train national servicemen, and to provide platoon commanders for units serving overseas in Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia. The division was created in 1900 and was one of the original 65 divisions contested at the first federal election.
