Jules White
Jules White (born Julius Weiss; hu, Weisz Gyula; 17 September 190030 April 1985) was a Hungarian-American film director and producer best known for his short-subject comedies starring The Three Stooges Early years White began working in motion pictures in the 1910s, as a child actor, for Pathé Studios. He appears in a small role as a Confederate soldier in the landmark silent feature ''The Birth of a Nation'' (1915). By the 1920s his brother Jack White (film producer), Jack White had become a successful comedy producer at Educational Pictures, and Jules worked for him as a film editor. Jules became a film director, director in 1926, specializing in comedies such as The Battling Kangaroo (1926). In 1930 White and his boyhood friend Zion Myers moved to the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio. Slapstick
Slapstick is a style of humor involving exaggerated physical activity that exceeds the boundaries of normal physical comedy. Slapstick may involve both intentional violence and violence by mishap, often resulting from inept use of props such as saws and ladders. The term arises from a device developed for use in the broad, physical comedy style known as ''commedia dell'arte'' in 16th-century Italy. The "Clapper (musical instrument), slap stick" consists of two thin slats of wood, which make a "slap" when striking another actor, with little force needed to make a loud—and comical—sound. A stand-in for film and television is a person who substitutes for the actor before filming, for technical purposes such as lighting and camera setup. Stand-ins are helpful in the initial processes of film and television production. Stand-ins allow the director of photography to light the set and the camera department to light and focus scenes while the actors are absent. Curly Howard
Jerome Lester Horwitz (; October 22, 1903 – January 18, 1952), known professionally as Curly Howard, was an American actor and comedian. He was best known as a member of the American comedy team the Three Stooges, which also featured his elder brothers Moe and Shemp Howard and actor Larry Fine. In early shorts, he was billed as Curley. Curly Howard was generally considered the most popular and recognizable of the Stooges. Judy Malcolm
Judy Malcolm (December 1, 1910July 22, 1998) was an American film actress. Born Marguerite Westergren, Malcolm appeared in approximately 25 films between 1933 and 1951. Malcolm is familiar to modern viewers for her roles in several Three Stooges short subjects such as ''G.I. Wanna Home'', '' No Dough Boys'', and especially ''Micro-Phonies'' (as the radio-station receptionist). She was also a stunt double for Fay Wray in the original ''King Kong'', notably performing the jump from the cliff into the river. Al Thompson
Al Thompson (September 21, 1884 – March 1, 1960) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 170 films between 1916 and 1958. Well known in the industry for performing the more difficult stunts, he kept busy as a stunt double for Andy Clyde in the latter's many movies and also appeared in many ''Three Stooges'' shorts. Herbert Evans (16 April 1882 – 10 February 1952) was an English film actor. He appeared in over 180 films between 1916 and 1952. Biography Evans started his acting career in 1914 at the World Film Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. His performances include the Earl of Glenheather Castle in The Three Stooges comedy ''The Hot Scots'' and its remake '' Scotched in Scotland'', the well-meaning but clueless butler Wilkes in ''Vagabond Loafers’’ and in the ''Our Gang'' short ''Shrimps for a Day''. In addition to his work in short subjects, Evans appeared—often uncredited—in such films as ''Casablanca'', '' Strangers on a Train'', '' Annie Get Your Gun'' and ''Song of the Thin Man''. He also had bit roles in the Shirley Temple vehicles ''Curly Top'' and ''Wee Willie Winkie''. Evans died on 10 February 1952 shortly after filming for '' The Brigand'' was completed.
