Adolf Friedrich Von Schack
Adolf Friedrich, Graf von Schack (2 August 181514 April 1894) was a German poet, historian of literature and art collector. Background Schack was born at Brüsewitz near Schwerin. Having studied jurisprudence (1834–1838) at the universities of Bonn, Heidelberg and Berlin, he entered the Mecklenburg state service and was subsequently attached to the Kammergericht in Berlin. Tiring of official work, he resigned his appointment, and after travelling in Italy, Egypt, and Spain, was attached to the court of the grand duke of Oldenburg, whom he accompanied on a journey to the East. On his return he entered the Oldenburg government service, and in 1849 was sent as envoy to Berlin. In 1852 he retired from his diplomatic post, resided for a while on his estates in Mecklenburg and then travelled in Spain, where he studied Moorish history. Thore Schäck (born 1985) is a German entrepreneur and politician from the Free Democratic Party. He has been a member of the Bürgerschaft of Bremen since 2019 and has been state chairman of the Bremen FDP since 2020. Sophus Schack
Sophus Peter Lassenius Schack was a Danish painter and officer who served in the First and Second Schleswig Wars. Biography Military career Schack was the son of barrister Gregers Schack. He became a cadet 1821 and promoted to second lieutenant in 1830 and in 1838 was characterized later in the following year as a true first lieutenant but was dismissed as early as 1842. However, he rejoined in July 1848 again as captain of the Third Reserve Battalion and participated in the First Schleswig War. In 1849 he became a Knight of Dannebrog. In 1860 he became captain guard in Rendsburg and in the same year was promoted to major. Schack would later participate as a major and battalion commander in the Second Schleswig War, and after being badly wounded on 18 April during the Battle of Dybbøl, he died on 21 April at a hospital in Copenhagen. Otto Wilhelm Christian Schack (1818 – September 1, 1875) was a Danish born American broker. Early life Schack was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1818. He was the youngest son of Gregers Schack (1781–1840) and Anna Sophie Kircksteen (1788–1854). His father was a Counselor of State and Secretary of Finance to the King of Denmark. Among his siblings were the soldier and painter Sophus Schack, and sister Caroline Schack, who married industrialist Lauritz Peter Holmblad. Otto "received a careful education up to his seventeenth year, when he came to the United States under the charge of Mr. Rudolph Braüm, one of his father's many warm friends. Schack von Staffeldt (28 March 1769 - 28 December 1826) or Adolph Wilhelm Schack von Staffeldt was a Danish author of two collections of poetry. He is famous for "being late", publishing his collection of poetry intended to introduce Romanticism in Denmark a year after his younger rival, Adam Oehlenschläger did it. Staffeldt was not held in high regard in his own time but is acknowledged as one of the most important Romantic Danish poets by later generations. Hans Schack (28 October 1608 – 27 February 1676) was a member of the north German noble family Schack, who after many years in French service, entered the Danish service, made major contributions during the war with Sweden, and loyally supported Frederick III when he overthrew the Danish constitution. He became a Danish field-marshal, commander-in-chief of the Danish army, member of the Board of State, and of the Danish Privy Council, and made a Danish count. Early career As a young man, Schack began his military career by serving in the Danish army during the early years of the Thirty Years' War. He entered Swedish service in 1630, and thence in French in 1635, becoming colonel of cavalry 1642, and later '' maréchal de camp''. Günther Schack (12 November 1917 – 14 June 2003) was a German Luftwaffe military aviator during World War II and a fighter ace credited with 174 enemy aircraft shot down in 780 combat missions. All of his victories were claimed on the Eastern Front. Born in Bartenstein in Eastern Prussia, Schack joined the military service in the Luftwaffe of Nazi Germany in 1939.
