Bente Scavenius
Bente Christina Brønnum Scavenius (born 12 December 1944, in Stockholm) is a Danish art historian, art critic and author. She has taught at the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University, and has written more than 20 books. She has also been a member of numerous public and private committees and boards of directors of cultural institutions in Denmark. She is the daughter of land owner Carl Christian Brønnum Scavenius, who owned Klintholm Gods, and a relative of former Prime Minister Erik Scavenius. She is married to actor Joen Bille (of the noble Bille family), who is a son of Irene Ibsen Bille and a descendant of Henrik Ibsen, Sigurd Ibsen and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. Erik Scavenius
Erik Julius Christian Scavenius (; 13 July 1877 – 29 November 1962) was the Danish foreign minister from 1909 to 1910, 1913 to 1920 and 1940 to 1943, and prime minister from 1942 to 1943, during the occupation of Denmark until the Danish elected government ceased to function. He was the foreign minister during some of the most important periods of Denmark's modern history, including the First World War, the plebiscites over the return of northern Schleswig to Denmark, and the German occupation. Scavenius was a member of the Landsting (the upper house of the Danish parliament before 1953) from 1918 to 1920 and from 1925 to 1927 representing the Social Liberal Party. He was chairman of its party organization from 1922 to 1924. Scavenius belonged to a tradition of elite governance that distrusted democratically elected politicians at a time when they were gaining power and influence. Scavenius Cabinet
The Scavenius Cabinet was the government of Denmark from 9 November 1942 to 5 May 1945. It replaced the Buhl I Cabinet, which fell due to the Telegram Crisis in November 1942, when the Germans demanded changes to the Danish government. The Germans wanted nonpolitical ministers and Nazi ministers in the new government, however only the first demand was met. Following the August Rebellion in 1943, the Germans put forward more demands, which the Danish authorities refused. The government therefore filed a resignation request for the King on 29 August 1943, who refused to accept it. Harald Roger Erik Julius Christian de Scavenius (27 May 1873 – 24 April 1939) was Danish foreign minister from 5 May 1920 to 9 October 1922. Before this appointment, he had previously occupied the position of Danish ambassador to Russia. Unlike his first cousin, Erik Scavenius, he advocated a strong anti-Communist policy and opposed Danish diplomatic recognition of the Soviet Union. Jacob Brønnum Scavenius
Jacob Brønnum Scavenius (2 April 1749 – 20 June 1820) was a Danish landowner. Early life and career Scavenius was born in Skagen in 1749 as the 9th of 11 children of merchant Peder Christensen Brønnum (or Brøndum) and Anne Ibsdatter. He graduated from Aalborg Grammar School in 1770 and assumed the name Scavenius (a latinification of for ''Skagbo'' = person from Skagen). Scavenius was a volunteer in (Treasury) until 1776 when he was employed as an assistant for the Danish Asiatic Company in India. He returned to Denmark as a wealthy man in 1792 after spending 15 years in Bengal. Property and titles Scavenius purchased the Gjorslev, Erikstrup and Søholm on Stevns from the Lindencrone family in 1793. In 1798 he also purchased Klintholm on the island of Møn. Jacob Brønnum Scavenius Estrup, (16 April 1825 – 24 December 1913), was a Denmark, Danish politician, member of the Højre party. He was Interior Minister (Denmark), Interior Minister from 1865 to 1869 in the Christian Emil Krag-Juel-Vind-Frijs, Cabinet of Frijs and Council President (Denmark), Council President as well as Finance Minister of Denmark, Finance Minister from 1875 to 1894 as the leader of the ''Estrup Cabinet''. Theresa Birgitta Brønnum Scavenius (born 26 July 1984) is Danish politician. She is an associate professor at Aalborg University Copenhagen with politics of climate change, climate politics as her research area.
