Scarab (Nedor)
The Scarab is a fictional superhero from the Golden Age of Comics. He first appeared in ''Startling Comics'' #34 (July 1945), published by Nedor Comics. The character was later revived by writer Alan Moore for America's Best Comics. Nedor Comics The Scarab was the secret identity of Egyptologist Peter Ward, who decoded a secret message in an ancient papyrus scroll. Ward was actually the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian high priest; by rubbing his magic scarab ring Ward would instantly transform into the super-powerful Scarab. He was accompanied by Akh-Tu-Men, an intelligent black cat. The Scarab debuted in ''Startling Comics'' #34, and became a regular backup feature in ''Exciting Comics'' from issue #42-48. His last Golden Age appearance was in ''The Black Terror'' #20 (October 1947). Standard Comics was a comic book imprint (trade name), imprint of United States, American publisher Ned Pines, who also published pulp magazines (under a Thrilling Publications, variety of company names that he also used for the comics) and paperback books (under the Popular Library name). Project Superpowers
''Project Superpowers'' is a comic book limited series published by Dynamite Entertainment beginning January 2008. It was co-plotted by Jim Krueger and Alex Ross, with scripts by Jim Krueger, covers by Alex Ross, and interior art by Doug Klauba and Stephen Sadowski for issue #0, and Carlos Paul for the remainder of the series. Ross is also art director, which includes sketched pages, color guides, and redesigns of most of the characters. There was a new series in 2018 with Rob Williams as the writers and Sergio Davila as the artist. A new series called ''Project Superpowers: Fractured States'' will debut in April with writers Ron Marz, Andy Lanning and artist Emilio Utrera. Another series called ''Scarlett Sisters'' with Women in Red, Lady Satan and Miss Masque is scheduled for September 2022. Don Markstein's Toonopedia
Don Markstein's Toonopedia (subtitled A Vast Repository of Toonological Knowledge) is an online encyclopedia of print cartoons, comic strips and animation, initiated February 13, 2001. Donald D. Markstein, the sole writer and editor of Toonopedia, termed it "the world's first hypertext encyclopedia of toons" and stated, "The basic idea is to cover the entire spectrum of American cartoonery." Markstein began the project during 1999 with several earlier titles: he changed Don's Cartoon Encyberpedia (1999) to Don Markstein's Cartoonopedia (2000) after learning the word "Encyberpedia" had been trademarked. During 2001, he settled on his final title, noting, "Decided (after thinking about it for several weeks) to change the name of the site to Don Markstein's Toonopedia, rather than Cartoonopedia.
