Sayeman Beach Resort
Sayeman Beach Resort is a five-star seaside resort located by Kolatoli Square in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. It is the successor of Sayeman Hotel, the first private hotel of the city. The construction of the resort was started initially in 2013 and completed in 2015. History In 1964, Sayedur Rahman established a private hotel named "Hotel Sayeman" in Cox's Bazar, East Pakistan. It was the first privately owned hotel in the city. Five years later, in 1969, Mosharraf Hossain (politician), Mosharraf Hossain, son of the hotel's founder, and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman stayed at this hotel during a trip to Cox's Bazar, and a candlelight dinner was organized in their honor. In independent Bangladesh in 1979, Mosharraf Hossain converted it into a resort with 75 rooms. Later Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana were also guests of this hotel. Kolatoli Square
Kolatoli Square (also known as Dolphin Square and Shark Square) is a place in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. It can be reached from the capital Dhaka by taking the N110 highway from the N1. It spans 170 meters from the Dolphin fountain to shore of Cox's Bazar Beach. It is the entrance to the city for tourists. Cox's Bazar–Teknaf Marine Drive starts from here which leads to Sabrang Union in Teknaf. A shark sculpture was installed here in 2010. But as it is known as dolphin sculpture, it creates confusion among tourists. Besides, seeing the shark sculpture in Kolatoli, some people think that there are sharks in the sea water and refrain from bathing there. Rashed Khan Menon (born 18 May 1943) is a Bangladeshi politician. He is the president of Workers Party of Bangladesh and was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dhaka-8 in the 2008 general election. Menon was re-elected at the 2014 general elections. He is the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Education. Earlier, he served as the Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. Early life Menon was born in Faridpur.
