"Say I'm Your Number One" (also formatted as "Say I'm Your No. 1") is a song by English singer Princess, released in 1985 as the lead single from her self-titled debut studio album (1986). Written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW), the song peaked at number seven on the UK Singles Chart. In the United States, it reached number 20 on ''Billboard'' Hot Black Singles chart. British magazine ''Classic Pop'' ranked the song number 8 in their list of "Top 40 Stock Aitken Waterman songs" in 2021. Desiree Heslop, best known as Princess, is a British singer who found chart success in the mid-1980s. In the early 1980s, she worked with the group Osibisa. She is best known for her hit single "Say I'm Your Number One" which made the UK Top Ten in 1985. Career Before going solo, she was a backing vocalist for the band Osibisa in the early 1980s. She recorded sessions on the Brilliant album ''Kiss The Lips of Life'', which brought her to the attention of producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman (SAW). The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987.
