"Sax and Violins" is a song by the rock band Talking Heads and their final release. It appears on the soundtrack for the 1991 film ''Until the End of the World''. It was also released as a successful airplay single and charted at number one on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart. The title is a play on the phrase "sex and violence". The song was later released on the compilations '' Once in a Lifetime: The Best of Talking Heads'' and '' Sand in the Vaseline: Popular Favorites.'' It was released again in 2005 as a bonus track on the remastered edition of the Talking Heads' ''Naked''. Alternative Airplay is a record chart published by the music industry magazine ''Billboard'' that ranks the most-played songs on American modern rock radio stations. Introduced by ''Billboard'' in September 1988 and named Modern Rock Tracks until June 2009, it was initially compiled based on weighted reports from several national rock radio stations. Starting with the chart dated June 12, 1993, radio airplay data compiled by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems – which electronically monitors various radio stations on a daily basis – was introduced as a factor in determining chart rankings. Liner notes (also sleeve notes or album notes) are the writings found on the sleeves of LP record albums and in booklets that come inserted into the compact disc jewel case or the equivalent packaging for cassettes. Origin Liner notes are descended from the program notes for musical concerts, and developed into notes that were printed on the inner sleeve used to protect a traditional 12-inch vinyl record, i.e., long playing or gramophone record album. Alternative Airplay (formerly known as Modern Rock Tracks (1988–2009) and Alternative Songs (2009–2020)) is a music chart in the United States that has appeared in ''Billboard'' magazine since September 10, 1988. It ranks the 40 most-played songs on alternative and modern rock radio stations. Introduced as Modern Rock Tracks, the chart served as a companion to the Mainstream Rock chart (then called Album Rock Tracks), and its creation was prompted by the explosion of alternative music on American radio in the late 1980s.
