The Savuto is a river and valley in Calabria, Southern Italy, that lies at the intersection of the provinces of Province of Cosenza, Cosenza and Province of Catanzaro, Catanzaro. It is also the name of a Denominazione di Origine Controllata, DOC wine produced in the region. The river's source is in La Sila and it empties into the Tyrrhenian Sea, at the Gulf of Saint Euphemia, after a run of . The name originates from the Latin ''Sabutus'', and it may also correspond to the Greek ''Ocinaros'' ("that flows quickly"), on which there was located the ancient town of Temesa (ancient city), Temesa. Cleto, Calabria
Cleto (, local slang: Petramala, Pietramala) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region of southern Italy. It is located on the hills facing the Aeolian Islands, and the river Savuto. The town is situated at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level at the feet of Mount St. Angelo, a few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea and not far from the Lamezia Terme International Airport. The hillside location means that the climate is very dry with hot summers and mild winters. The flora is typical of the Mediterranean area, with numerous olive trees and, in the area of the river Savuto, oranges and lemons. The oil production is one of the mainstays of the local economy, as well as tourism and agriculture in general. Grimaldi (comune)
Grimaldi is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region of southern Italy. Grimaldi is referred to as ''Grimaldo'' in historic documents. In the local Calabrian dialect (a variation of Cosentino), the town is called ''Grimàudu'' or ''Grimàuru'', and the residents ''Grimaudisi'', although the Italian versions (Grimaldi and Grimaldesi) are today prevalent. Temesa (ancient City)
Temesa ( grc, Τεμέση or Τεμέσα oric, later called Tempsa, was an ancient city of Magna Graecia, in Italy, on the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It was situated close to Terina, but its precise location has not yet been found. It is thought to have been located near the Savuto river to the north of the Gulf of Sant'Euphemia.
