Satureja
''Satureja'' is a genus of aromatic plants of the family Lamiaceae, related to rosemary and thyme. It is native to North Africa, southern and southeastern Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. A few New World species were formerly included in ''Satureja'', but they have all been moved to other genera. Several species are cultivated as culinary herbs called savory, and they have become established in the wild in a few places. Description ''Satureja'' species may be annual or perennial. Henry Jarvis Savory (4 March 1914 – 4 January 2008) was an English cricketer who played internationally for Nigeria. A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler, he played one first-class match for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club in 1937, against New Zealand. "Savory" (released as "Savory + 3") is the first single released by Jawbox from their 1994 major label debut, ''For Your Own Special Sweetheart''. The song is a description of the female body, according to AllMusic, but in a very cryptic form. The three other songs from the single were later included as bonus tracks for the 2009 reissue of ''For Your Own Special Sweetheart''. Music video The music video was released in early 1994 and gained some MTV airplay, particularly on programs like ''120 Minutes'', but the song never charted. The video depicts Jawbox performing at a little girl's birthday party, where the birthday girl receives an assortment of unusual gifts, including weapons and dentures. The video shows the band dressed in formal suits, a change from their old video for "Cutoff". William Savory
William Alcott Savory (June 11, 1916 – February 11, 2004) was an audio engineer known for his extensive private recordings of important jazz musicians in the 1930s, and for his contributions to recording technology. A musician who developed an interest in sound engineering, Savory began building his own recording devices in the mid-1930s. Savory was involved with the team led by Columbia Records engineer William Bachman that succeeded in bringing the first 33⅓ rpm long-playing record albums to market in 1948. Biography Savory was born William Alcott Savory of French and Italian parents aboard the ocean liner Mauretania. He played the piano and the saxophone. Sir William Scovell Savory, 1st Baronet, (30 November 18264 March 1895) was a British surgeon. Biography He was born in London, the son of William Henry Savory, and his second wife, Mary Webb. He entered St Bartholomew's Hospital as a student in 1844, becoming M.R.C.S. in 1847, and F.R.C.S. in 1852. From 1849 to 1859 he was demonstrator of anatomy and operative surgery at St Bartholomew's, and for many years curator of the museum, where he devoted himself to pathological and physiological work. The trio made up of Nicole Holness, Melanie Fiona Hallim, Andreena Mill and later in 2003 new member, Nirvana Savoury was signed to Linus Entertainment (Then distributed by Warner Music Canada) soon after the group was established in 2002. Nathaniel Savory
Nathaniel Savory (1794 - 1874) was one of the first American colonists who is said to have settled on the Ogasawara Islands. He eventually became governor, and played an active role in government before and during the colonization by Japan. Life Nathaniel Savory was born in Bradford, Massachusetts and eventually relocated to Hawaii. In 1830 he headed out for an adventure expedition, led by Matteo Mazzaro (of Italian-British descent), and accompanied by a small group of Americans, British, and Hawaiians who all eventually settled in Ōgiura, Chichi-jima. Sir Michael Berry Savory (born 1943) was Lord Mayor of London for 2004-05. Savory was elected to Common Council in 1980 and as an Alderman in 1996. He served as Aldermanic Sheriff in 2001-02 and Lord Mayor in 2004-05. He is currently Managing Partner of the Muckleburgh Collection in North Norfolk. Lieutenant General Sir Reginald Arthur Savory (26 July 1894 − 14 June 1980) was a British Indian Army officer who served during both World War I and World War II. Military career Educated at Uppingham School, he then attended the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Savory was commissioned onto the Unattached List of the Indian Army and posted to the 14th Sikhs in 1914. He served in World War I initially in Egypt and then took part in the Gallipoli campaign and then the Mesopotamian campaign. Promoted to lieutenant on 14 April 1916, he was awarded the Military Cross in June 1916. Sir Reginald Charles Frank Savory (27 May 1908 – 27 October 1989) was a New Zealand businessman and politician who introduced container ship capability to Auckland. Biography Early life and career Savory was born in Ponsonby in 1908. He was the oldest of five children and attended Auckland Grammar School until the age of 14 when he was forced to look for employment to help with family finances. He took a job as an office boy at the Auckland Gas Company. He found work as a carpenter and helped build many of the high quality houses in Remuera in the 1920s.
