Savo Štrbac
Savo Štrbac ( sr-cyr, Саво Штрбац; born 1949) is a Croatian Serb lawyer and author. He is best-known for being the director of the Serbian NGO "Veritas" that documents with the history of the Republic of Serbian Krajina and locates missing war victims. Early life and education Štrbac was born in Raštević, near Benkovac, People’s Republic of Croatia. He earned a degree in law from the University of Zagreb. Career From 1977 to 1990, he worked as a judge of the Municipal Court in Benkovac and of the District Court in Zadar. During the Breakup of Yugoslavia, he was involved in the work of the RSK Commission for Prisoner Exchanges, at first as a Commission member and from 1993 as its chairman. The same year, he also became Secretary of the RSK. Since 1994, he worked with the now-former chief prosecutor at the ICTY, Carla del Ponte, in preparing indictments against Croatian generals in the ''Trial of Gotovina et al''. Benkovac
Benkovac () is a town in the interior of Zadar County, Croatia. Geography Benkovac is located where the plain of Ravni Kotari and the karstic plateau of Bukovica meet, 20 km from the town of Biograd na Moru and 30 km from Zadar. The Zagreb-Split motorway and Zadar-Knin railway pass through the town. It borders the municipalities of Novigrad, Posedarje, Obrovac, Lišane Ostrovičke, Kistanje and Stankovci. Demography According to the 2011 census, the municipality had 11,026 inhabitants of which 13.8% were from a Serbian descent and 84.9% were Croatian. Before the Croatian War of Independence, Serbs made up about 57%, and Croats about 41%, however Croats only held 18% of the jobs in the local government, which led to high tensions in the 1990s. During Operation Storm (''Oluja''), almost all of the Serbs left the town, and after the war they were replaced by Bosnian Croat settlers.
