Savane (album)
''Savane'' is the final solo album by Malian musician Ali Farka Touré. It is the third and final part of the Hôtel Mandé Sessions, featuring Touré and Toumani Diabaté, recorded by World Circuit head Nick Gold. The album was released posthumously by World Circuit on 17 July 2006, more than four months after Touré's death. The recording sessions at Hôtel Mandé in Bamako took place from June to July 2004. Touré, suffering from cancer, had wanted to remain in Mali, so a temporary studio was set up on the top floor of the hotel. Touré approved the final master of ''Savane'' just weeks before his death in March 2006. He said of the album: "I know this is my best album ever. It has the most power and is the most different." ''Savane'' features a number of non-African blues musicians, such as Little George Sueref, Pee Wee Ellis, and also Touré's protégé since the age of 13, Afel Bocoum. Savane is a free web-based software hosting system. It includes issue tracking (bugs, tasks, support, news and documentation), project member management by roles and individual account maintenance. History The GNU Project's GNU Savannah website started out using SourceForge as its hosting software. However, after Savannah was set up, SourceForge was changed into proprietary software by its authors. Loïc Dachary, main site's administrator at the Free Software Foundation, forked the software in order to maintain it. This software fork was originally called simply Savannah, since it was the software running the GNU Project's Savannah website and had no other name. Savane Church
The Savane church of Saint George ( ka, სავანის წმინდა გიორგის ეკლესია, tr) is an 11th-century Georgian Orthodox church in the western Georgian region of Imereti. A single-nave basilica built in 1046, the church has harmonious proportions, ornamented iconostasis, and exquisite decorative masonry details on the exterior façades. The church is inscribed on the list of Georgia's Immovable Cultural Monuments of National Significance. History The Savane church stands on a hill on the left bank of the Qvirila River, a tributary of the Rioni, in the centre of the eponymous village, in the Sachkhere Municipality, Imereti region. Prince Vakhushti, in his ''Description of the Kingdom of Georgia'' written in 1745, erroneously claims that the church, with its iconostatis, was hewn out of a single rock.
