Claude Sautet (23 February 1924 – 22 July 2000) was a French film director and screenwriter. He was a chronicler of post-war French society. He made a total of five films with his favorite actress Romy Schneider. Biography Born in Montrouge, Hauts-de-Seine, France, Sautet first studied painting and sculpture before attending a film university in Paris where he began his career and later became a television producer. His first movie, '' Hello Smile!'' (originally ''Bonjour Sourire'') was released in 1956. He earned international attention with ''The Things of Life'' (''Les choses de la vie'', 1970), which he wrote and directed, like the rest of his later films. Featuring Michel Piccoli in the male lead, it was shown in competition at the 1970 Cannes Festival. The film also revived the career of Romy Schneider; she acted in several of Sautet's later films. Frédéric Sautet
Frédéric E. Sautet (; born in 1968), is a French economist. He currently teaches economics in the United States. Biography After studying at the Institut d’études politiques de Paris, Sautet received his doctorate in economics from the University of Paris (advisor: Pascal Salin). He pursued his postdoctoral studies at New York University under the auspices of Peter Boettke, Israel Kirzner and Mario Rizzo. He has lecturered at the University of Paris, New York University, George Mason University, and is teaching at the Catholic University of America where he is the cofounder of the Ciocca Center for Principled Entrepreneurship and academic director of the entrepreneurship program. Marc Sautet
Marc Sautet (25 February 1947 – 3 March 1998) was a French writer, teacher, translator (mainly of Nietzsche), and philosopher. He was a Doctor of Philosophy (B. Litt.) at the Paris Institute of Political Studies. Sautet was a former Trotskyist who however edited two books on the German philosopher and philologist Friedrich Nietzsche. Marc Sautet emphasised that Nietzsche was a precursor of his time. Sautet branched out from his normal academic career as a lecturer by giving philosophy consultation services to businessmen in the bourgeois district of Le Marais in Paris around 1990 to 1991. He opened up his "cabinet de philosophie" charging consultation fees of some 200 Francs an hour, an amount similar to a professional psychoanalyst of the time. This was not a successful enterprise for Sautet, however it did lead him to setting up informal philosophising for the ordinary citizen in Parisian cafes starting in 1992 (the Café Philosophique).
