"Sausilito" is the first single by Netherlands-based singing duo Rosy & Andres. It was written by Andres Holten and Marshal Manengkei. In the Netherlands, it peaked at No. 7 and spent four weeks on the charts. History Rosy Pereira had previously recorded as Babe Pereira. She is also the daughter of Indonesian steel guitarist Coy Pereira Coy Pereira (1919-2005) was a Netherlands-based guitarist and steel guitarist originally from Batavia in the Dutch East Indies. Diesel is a Dutch pop/rock group that became one of the relatively few Dutch acts to chart in the U.S. when their song "Sausalito Summernight" entered the U.S. Top 40 in 1981. Biography Diesel was created in October 1978 by ex- Kayak drummer Pim Koopman. Rosy & Andres were a Dutch musical duo made up of Rosy Pereira and Dries Holten. They recorded together from the mid to late 1970s. Their best known song is " My Love". History Rosy Pereira was born in 1951 and is the daughter of steel guitarist Coy Pereira. Andres is a Dutch singer, songwriter of Indonesian descent. In 1972, he represented the Netherlands at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest. 1976 In the October 9, 1976 issue of ''Billboard'', their single "My Love" reached position no 3 in the Dutch chart, just behind "In Zaire" by Johnny Wakelin and with "Dancing Queen" by ABBA at no 1. CNR Records
CNR is a Dutch audio and video label. It was founded in 1937 as CNR Records by Cornelis Nicolaas Rood, who made his fortune as a producer of lampshades and other lighting materials. Rood regarded his record label merely as a hobby, but things changed for the better in the early 1950s when CNR bought distribution and marketing rights for several foreign pop and classical record companies. He also signed up several local artists. One of CNR's first major successes was Dutch singer Gert Timmerman, who became one of the Dutch top selling male artists from the end of the 1950s. Andres Holten
Dries (Andres) Holten (30 January 1936 in Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia – 15 April 2020) was a Dutch singer, songwriter of Indo descent. He represented the Netherlands at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest alongside Sandra Reemer. After he and Reemer broke up, Holten formed a new group with Rosy Pereira and called it Rosy & Andres. In 1980, Holten's final group was of him and Ria Shield Meyer. Marshal Manengkei (9 March 1949 – 25 August 2017) was a Dutch-Indonesian producer, songwriter, composer and lyricist. He is also an occasional singer. He has been the co-composer on a number of Dutch and European hit singles during the 1970s. Background Early years He was born on March 9, 1949, In Surabaya, Indonesia. Coy Pereira
Coy Pereira (1919-2005) was a Netherlands-based guitarist and steel guitarist originally from Batavia in the Dutch East Indies. He was a member of the Kilima Hawaiians and had recorded with the Mena Moeria Minstrels as well as having work released under his own name. He is said to be in the same class of fellow steel guitarists, George de Fretes and Rudi Wairata. Biography Pereira was born on October 22, 1919, in Batavia. He started playing at age 13. He and his wife Hetty had three children. In 1960, he moved to the Netherlands. In later years he and his wife moved to a retirement village in a Rotterdam suburb. He died in hospital on April 12, 2005, aged 86. His daughter Rosy born 1951 is a recording artist, having recorded in the 1970s and 1980s.
