Saul Isaac
Saul Isaac (1823 – late 1903) was an English businessman and Conservative Party politician. He was the first Jew to be elected to the House of Commons as a Conservative candidate. Isaac was a partner in the army contracting business run by his older brother Samuel (1812–1886), which became the largest European supplier of materials to the Confederate States during the American Civil War. He was elected at the 1874 general election as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Nottingham, when the Conservatives took both the city's parliamentary seats from the Liberals. The 1885 United Kingdom general election was held from 24 November to 18 December 1885. This was the first general election after an Representation of the People Act 1884, extension of the franchise and Redistribution of Seats Act 1885, redistribution of seats. For the first time a majority of adult males could vote and most constituencies by law returned a single member to Parliament, fulfilling one of the ideals of Chartism to provide direct single-member, single-electorate accountability. The history of the Jews in England goes back to the reign of William the Conqueror. John Skirrow Wright
John Skirrow Wright (2 February 1822 – ) was one of the distinguished pioneers and social improvers of the 19th century in Birmingham, England; and inventor of the postal order. He was involved in many aspects of Birmingham's mid-Victorian life that were intended for the benefit of its citizens, including the General Hospital, the Chamber of Commerce, the School of Art, the Children's Hospital, the early Birmingham Hospital Saturday Fund, and the Blue Coat School. Life Wright was born in Finsbury, London, on 2 February 1822, the son of Edward Fawcett Wright (d. 1856) and his wife, Ann, Skirrow.Dixon 2013. Two years later, the family moved to Stourbridge, Worcestershire. In 1838 Wright moved to Birmingham in search of work, and found employment at the button manufactory of Smith and Kemp. William Evelyn Denison
Captain William Evelyn Denison DL, JP (25 February 1843 – 24 September 1916) was a British Army officer and a Conservative Party politician. He owned an estate in Ossington, Nottinghamshire where he held several local offices as well as sitting in the House of Commons from 1874 to 1880. Early life Denison was the eldest son of Sir William T. Denison (1804–71), a British colonial governor and brother of Speaker Evelyn Denison. His mother was Caroline née Hornby, daughter of Admiral Sir Phipps Hornby. At the age of 3 he moved to Van Diemen's Land, where his father had been appointed Lieutenant-Governor. In 1854 Sir William was promoted to Governor of New South Wales, and the family moved to Sydney. William was educated at Eton and then at the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich.
