Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association
The Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association (SABSA, ar, جمعية الكشافة العربية السعودية) is the national Scouting organization of Saudi Arabia. Scouting was officially founded in Saudi Arabia in 1961, though Scouting was active many years prior to the founding date, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1963. It has 19,269 members (as of 2010). The Association seeks to spread Scouting throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim of promoting the Scout ideals of courage, self-reliance and brotherhood. The Association participates in most regional and international Scouting activities. They contribute financial assistance generously to help Scouting in less fortunate countries. In 1983, Dr. Abdullah O. Abdullah Omar Nasseef
Abdullah Omar Nasseef ( ar, عبدالله عمر نصيف) (born 5 July 1939 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) is a Saudi chemist and geologist, and serves as Chief Scout of the Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association, which he joined in 1956. Nasseef has a Ph.D degree from Leeds University in the United Kingdom. He is a professor at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. He is chairman of the World Muslim Congress, chairman of the founding board of Sahm Al-Nour Trust, and former Secretary General of Muslim World League in 1983-1993. He has served as Vice-President of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia, President of King Abdul Aziz University, and Secretary-General of the International Islamic Council for Da'wah and Relief (IICDR). Abqaiq
Abqaiq ( ar, بقيق, Biqayq) is a Saudi Aramco gated community and oil-processing facility located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, located in the desert 60 km southwest of the Dhahran-Dammam-Khobar metropolitan area, and north of the Rub' al-Khali, the second largest sand desert in the world also known as the "Empty Quarter". The community was built in the 1940s by Aramco (now Saudi Aramco). The Abqaiq community had a population of approximately 1,500 in 2012, though the inclusion of the population outside the Saudi Aramco community brings this number closer to 30,000. Abqaiq has been organizing a Safari Festival since 2017. The 10-days festival aims at presenting the Arab and desert heritage by presenting different shows. Terrorism and security Abqaiq was the site of a terrorist attack attempt by al-Qaeda on 24 February 2006, targeting the oil processing facility. Scouts Canada is a Canadian Scouting association providing programs for young people, aged 5 to 26, with the stated aim "to help develop well rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world". There have been American Scouts overseas since almost the inception of the movement, often for similar reasons as the present day. Within the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), these expatriate Scouts are now served by two overseas Councils and the Direct Service program. Udhailiyah (Arabic: العضيلية ''ʿuḍayliyyah'') is a small oil company compound in the interior of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia located in the desert southwest of the Dhahran-Dammam-Khobar metropolitan area. Built by the national oil company Saudi Aramco, Udhailiyah has a population of approximately 1,350 residents.
