Saturn Award For Best Network Television Series
The Saturn Award for Best Network Television Series was presented annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, honoring the best network television series. It was introduced in 1988 and discontinued in 2015 when the Saturn Award went through major changes in their television categories. ''Lost'' holds the record of the most wins in this category with five; additionally, ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'' and ''The X-Files'' both won the award three times. ''The X-Files'' is also the most nominated series in the category, with eight nominations. The Saturn Awards are American awards presented annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. The awards were created to honor science fiction, fantasy, and horror in film, but have since grown to reward other films belonging to genre fiction, as well as television and home media releases. Reed in 1973, who felt that work in films in the genre of science fiction at that time lacked recognition within the established Hollywood film industry's award system. ''Intruders'' is a four-hour science fiction miniseries that was first broadcast in 1992. Broadcast on CBS, the miniseries was directed by Dan Curtis and starred Richard Crenna, Daphne Ashbrook and Mare Winningham. ''The Simpsons'' is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of American life, epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. ''Tales from the Crypt'', sometimes titled ''HBO's Tales from the Crypt'', is an American horror anthology television series that ran from June 10, 1989, to July 19, 1996, on the premium cable channel HBO for seven seasons with a total of 93 episodes.
