Saturia ( bn, সাটুরিয়া) is an upazila of Manikganj District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The administrative center is located in Saturia. Geography Saturia is located at . It has 27174 households and total area 140.12 km2. Demographics As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Saturia has a population of 140215. Males constitute 49.84% of the population, and females 50.16%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 73439. Saturia has an average literacy rate of 22% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. Administration Saturia Upazila is divided into nine union parishads: Baliyati, Baried, Dargram, Dhankora, Dighulia, Fukurhati, Hargaj, Saturia, and Tilli. The union parishads are subdivided into 166 mauzas and 224 villages. The Upozila Parishad Office is at The Village name Baliati. Baliati Iswar Chandra High School
Baliati Iswar Chandra High School ( bn, বালিয়াটি ঈশ্বর চন্দ্র উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়) is a secondary school in Saturia Upazila, Manikganj District, Bangladesh, established in 1919. It is situated on six acres of land with two academic buildings, nine ponds, one helipad, and one play ground. History The founder of the school is Babu Ray Bahadur Harendra Kumar Ray Chowdhury, who was the zamindar of the area. He founded the school in the name of his father....Iswar Chandra and to fulfill his son Upel Chandra's wish. Upel Chandra was a barrister who studied in London. After completing his degree, he wanted to establish a school in Saturia Upazila to provide education for the area. He asked his father to construct the school but his father did not agree with the proposal. Due to the rejection by his father of the proposal, Upel Chandra committed suicide. Manikganj ( bn, মানিকগঞ্জ ) is a district in central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka Division, In 1845 AD it was at first declared as a sub-division. 1991 Bangladesh Census
In 1991, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh. They recorded data from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. According to the census, Hindus were 10.5 per cent of the population, down from 12.1 per cent as of 1981. Bangladesh have a population of 106,314,992 as per 1991 census report.
