Saturday Night Football (British TV Programme)
''Saturday Night Football'' (''SNF'') is a football television programme on Sky Sports which broadcast live football from the Premier League. The show was originally presented by David Jones alongside Jamie Redknapp, in front of a live studio audience. The show ran from the start of the 2013–14 season to the end of the 2015–16 season and from the 2019–20 season and is one of the three main Premier League programmes broadcast by Sky Sports at the time, alongside '' Super Sunday'' and ''Monday Night Football''. The show ended at the end of the 2015–16 season, ahead of the commencement of a new Premier League broadcasting deal between Sky Sports and BT Sport, which saw BT take over the rights to the 5:30 pm kick-offs which ''Saturday Night Football'' broadcast. As of the start of the 2019–20 season, Sky Sports regained the rights for this time slot with Kelly Cates presenting from the ground of the game as opposed to the studio. 1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. David Jones (presenter)
David Jones is an English sports presenter working for Sky Sports and a non-executive director of Sunderland A.F.C. He currently fronts the live coverage on Super Sunday and Monday Night Football. Jones went to Stokesley Comprehensive School in North Yorkshire. He became a presenter on Sky Sports News in February 2003 after spending two seasons as a pitch-side reporter on Premiership Plus. Starting his journalistic career as a news reporter on the Derbyshire Times in Chesterfield, he joined Sky for the launch of Sky Sports News in 1998, presenting alongside Georgie Thompson for a number of years. Jones presented The Football League on Sky Sports from the 2007–08 season until 2011. Jones started presenting live Premier League matches in 2010. The Red Button is a push-button on the remote control for certain digital television set top boxes in the UK, Australia, Belgium, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and by DirecTV and Comcast in the United States. Jamie Redknapp
Jamie Frank Redknapp (born 25 June 1973) is an English former professional footballer who was active from 1989 until 2005. He is a pundit at Sky Sports and an editorial sports columnist at the ''Daily Mail''. A technically skillful and creative midfielder, who was also an accurate and powerful free-kick taker, Redknapp played for AFC Bournemouth, Southampton, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur, captaining the latter two. ''Monday Night Football'' (''MNF'') (also known as ''Bet365 or Renault Monday Night Football'' for sponsorship reasons) is a British football programme on Sky Sports which broadcasts live English football from the Premier League. Original run Sky television's acquisition of rights to broadcast live Premier League football from the start of the 1992–93 season saw them attempt innovations such as digital on-screen graphics (DOG) and Monday Night live games. The first Monday Night Football game broadcast was between Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers on 17 August 1992, which ended in a 1–1 draw.
