Satish Chandra Maheshwari (1933-2019) was an Indian botanist and a former professor at the University of Delhi. He is known for his contributions to the fields of plant physiology and plant molecular biology. Maheshwari is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian National Science Academy and the National Academy of Sciences, India. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 1972, for his contributions to biological sciences. Satish Chandra (20 November 1922 – 13 October 2017) was an Indian historian whose main area of specialisation was medieval Indian history. Personal life Satish Chandra was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh (then the United Provinces) to Sir Sita Ram, India's High Commissioner to Pakistan, and his wife, Basudevi. He attended Allahabad University where he earned his B.A. (1942), M.A. (1944), and D.Phil. (1948) under the supervision of R.P. Tripathi. His doctoral thesis was on the ''Parties and Politics in 18th century India''. He was married to Savitri and had three sons. ` Satish Chandra Agarwal (born Satish Gupta; 27 September 1928 – 10 September 1997) was the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and a member of the sixth and seventh Lok Sabha representing the Jaipur Parliamentary Constituency of Rajasthan, India from 1977 to 1984. He was previously a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from 1957 to 1972, and was later elected to the Rajya Sabha. At the age of 15 he was influenced by his guru, Swami Prajnanananda Saraswati and adopted the life of Brahmacharya and took up a life of serving the people.
