Bellevue, Washington
Bellevue ( ) is a city in the Eastside region of King County, Washington, United States, located across Lake Washington from Seattle. It is the third-largest city in the Seattle metropolitan area and has variously been characterized as a satellite city, a suburb, a boomburb, or an edge city. Its population was 122,363 at the 2010 census and 151,854 in the 2020 census. The city's name is derived from the French term ("beautiful view"). Bellevue is home to some of the world's largest technology companies. Lync
Lync was a 1990s post-hardcore band from Olympia, Washington. Formed in 1992, Lync was composed of vocalist/guitarist Sam Jayne, bassist/vocalist James Bertram and drummer Dave Schneider. Lync's distinctive sound of distortion, cryptic lyrics, and irregular tuning created a chaotic, visceral sound which drew comparisons to Fugazi, Unwound, Hush Harbor, The Fall, and Drive Like Jehu. The band went on to release singles on Magic Pail, Candy Ass, Landspeed, and K Records. Jayne and Bertram played on Beck's album ''One Foot In The Grave'' in 1994, right before releasing Lync's one full-length album on K, '' These Are Not Fall Colors''. Lync then disbanded in late 1994. ''Satisfact'' is the eponymous second studio album by American post-punk band Satisfact. Co-produced by John Goodmanson, it was released on March 18, 1997 through K Records. The album features a continuation of the band's trademark post-punk sound of "screechy guitar sounds, hypnotic keyboard effects, robotic rhythms and monotone vocals." Critical reception AllMusic critic Mike DaRanco wrote "Suave, laid-back and borderline poppy (but not in the obnoxiously happy sort of way), Satisfact have the ability to accomplish all of this without coming close to boring the listener to death." ''The Unwanted Sounds of Satisfact'' is the debut album by American post-punk band Satisfact. Released on September 10, 1996 through Up Records, the album was produced by the musician Steve Wold, better known by his stage name Seasick Steve. The album's sound, which is derived from the post-punk, new wave and gothic rock, has been regarded as an early example of the new wave revival genre. Critical reception Allmusic critic Blake Butler thought that the album sounded "like the Smiths playing on Jupiter in 2150 with Morissey's vain sass taken away" and stated: "As this is the band's first album, you hear a more stripped-down and straightforward of what they would later doon future albums." Butler also described the record as "a strong album of dreamy android pop with a 1984 edge." Post-punk Revival
Post-punk revival (also known as garage rock revival,J. Stuessy and S. D. Lipscomb, ''Rock and roll: its History and Stylistic Development'' (London: Pearson Prentice Hall, 5th edn., 2006), , p. 451. new wave revival,. and new rock revolution) is a genre of indie rock that emerged in the early 2000s as musicians started to play a stripped down and back-to-basics version of guitar rock emerged into the mainstream. Jeremiah Martin Green (March 4, 1977December 31, 2022) was an American musician best known as a founding member and drummer of the indie rock band Modest Mouse from 1993 to March 2003, and again from May 2004 until his death in December 2022. Early life Jeremiah Martin Green was born on March 4, 1977, in Oahu, Hawaii, while his father was stationed there in the Army. He grew up in Moxee, Washington, a few miles outside of Yakima. His family moved to the Seattle area in 1989. He had an older brother named Adam. His father was an alcoholic who was abusive to Green; he later apologized and reconciled with his son. Green took drumming lessons for three months in his early teens but was uninspired by his teacher. He immersed himself in the Seattle music scene, joining a band and attending concerts at night. Imputor? is an independent record label founded in 1999 by Darrin Wiener (aka Plastiq Phantom) and Jordan Snodgrass. Originally based in Seattle and San Diego, Imputor? began releasing experimental electronic music (also known as Intelligent dance music or IDM), and has since expanded into styles such as Indie rock and Comedy. Imputor? moved its base of operations to Portland, Oregon. History The duo had first met 7 years earlier while attending high-school together in Vista, California, a suburb located in North San Diego County. The name ''Imputor?'' is said to be a made-up contraction of the phrase "I am a computer." Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of punk music that emerged in the late 1970s as musicians departed from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and DIY ethic but determined to break from rock cliches, artists experimented with styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, and dance music; the production techniques of dub and disco; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, cinema and literature.
