Ariyalur district is an administrative district, one of the Districts of Tamil Nadu, 38 districts in the Indian state, state of Tamil Nadu in India. The district headquarters is located at Ariyalur. The district encompasses an area of 1,949.31 km². Brihadisvara Temple, Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Gangaikonda Cholapuram, built by King Rajendra Cholan of Chola Empire, is a World Heritage Site, UNESCO World Heritage site situated in this district. The district is also known for its rich prehistoric fossils. In anthropology and demography, the human sex ratio is the ratio of males to females in a population. Like most sexual species, the sex ratio in humans is close to 1:1. In humans, the natural ratio at birth between males and females is slightly biased towards the male sex: it is estimated to be about 1.05 or 1.06 or within a narrow range from 1.03 to 1.06 males per female.
