Satanic Blood (EP)
''Satanic Blood'' is the full-length debut album by American black metal band Von (band), Von. It was released on October 31, 2012 via the band's own label, Von Records. It is the band's first release since their hiatus in 1992 and subsequent reunion in 2010. The album mostly contains the reworked versions of songs in the band's 1992 demo, ''Satanic Blood''. It does not feature the band's original vocalist and guitarist, Goat, who left the band just after the reunion. Critical reception The album met with mixed to positive reviews. Sammy O'Hagar of MetalSucks gave the album a positive review and praised its raw sound and production. He also compared the album's sound to other notable Early Norwegian black metal scene, second wave of black metal albums such as ''Transilvanian Hunger'' by Darkthrone and ''De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas'' by Mayhem (band), Mayhem. Von (band)
Von is an American black metal band formed in 1987 in O'ahu, Hawaii; although they later relocated to San Francisco, California. They are thought to be the first American black metal band, and strongly influenced the second wave of black metal. History Von was allegedly formed in 1987 by Goat, Snake, and Venien (who left the band in 1990, before VON was chosen as the band name). The role and involvement of member "Venien" in the early days of Von have always been very unclear, as no proof that this member was active in the band during that period exists. In late 1990 or early 1991, Kill joined the band as bassist and the trio recorded their '' Satanic Blood'' demo. During 1991, Von played a couple of live gigs and recorded another demo, ''Blood Angel'', which was never released on its own. ''De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas'' is the first studio album by Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. Songwriting began in 1987, but due to the suicide of vocalist Per "Dead" Ohlin and the murder of guitarist Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth, the album's release was delayed until May 1994. ''De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas'' is widely considered one of the most influential black metal albums of all time. It is the band's only studio album to feature Aarseth and Varg "Count Grishnackh" Vikernes. Background and recording 1987–1991 Mayhem began writing songs for the album in late 1987 or early 1988, depending on the source. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. Grindcore
Grindcore is an extreme fusion genre of heavy metal and hardcore punk that originated in the mid-1980s, drawing inspiration from abrasive-sounding musical styles, such as thrashcore, crust punk, hardcore punk, extreme metal, and industrial. 1349 is a Norwegian black metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 1997. The band's name is a reference to the year the Black Death reached Norway. History 1349 formed in 1997 and comprises several former members of the band Alvheim. Drummer Frost is also a member of Satyricon. In recognition of 1349's influences, the band performed a cover of Mayhem's "Buried by Time and Dust" on their debut album, ''Liberation''. Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1991. Satyr and Frost have been the band's core members since 1993. The band's first three albums typify the Norwegian black metal style. Mayhem (band)
Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Langhus in 1984. They were one of the founders of the Norwegian black metal scene and their music has strongly influenced the black metal genre. Darkthrone is a Norwegian extreme metal band from Kolbotn, Akershus.
