Sasol GTC Championship
The Global Touring Car Championship (known commercially as the Sasol GTC Championship) is a South African touring car series co-founded by Gary Formato and Vic Maharaj in 2016 and sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa. Sasol has been the series' title sponsor and sole fuel supplier since its inaugural season. It has dubbed itself South Africa's "premier motorsport championship". The series is divided into two classes, namely GTC (which runs silhouette racing cars) and GTC Supacup. History Following the folding of the National Production Car Championship in late 2015, South Africa lacked a premier touring car racing series. The bar is a metric unit of pressure, but not part of the International System of Units (SI). Anti-lock Braking System
An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is a safety anti-skid braking system used on aircraft and on land vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, trucks, and buses. ABS operates by preventing the wheels from locking up during braking, thereby maintaining tractive contact with the road surface and allowing the driver to maintain more control over the vehicle. A traction control system (TCS), also known as ASR (from german: Antriebsschlupfregelung, lit=drive slippage regulation), is typically (but not necessarily) a secondary function of the electronic stability control (ESC) on production motor vehicles, designed to prevent loss of traction (i.e., wheelspin) of the driven road wheels. Slick Tyre
A racing slick or slick tyre is a type of tyre that has a smooth tread used mostly in auto racing. The first production slick tyre was developed by M&H Tires in the early 1950s for use in drag racing. By eliminating any grooves cut into the tread, such tyres provide the largest possible contact patch to the road, and maximize dry traction for any given tyre dimension; see Performance.
