Saskatoon Sirens
The Saskatoon Sirens were a women's football team in the Lingerie Football League (LFL) and played in the 2012 LFL Canada season. Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the Sirens played their home games at the Credit Union Centre. The Sirens were one of four teams in the LFL Canada league, after the Toronto Triumph (which played in the main LFL for the 2011–12 season), BC Angels, and the Regina Rage. Because Saskatoon lacks a professional football team of its own, the Sirens' colours were based on those of the Saskatoon Blades, the local team in the Western Hockey League. The Sirens entered the season ranked last in the league, but the finished first in the league with a 3–1 record and the only team to beat every other team in season play. Saskatoon () is the largest city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It straddles a bend in the South Saskatchewan River in the central region of the province. Saskatoon Blades
The Saskatoon Blades are a major junior ice hockey team playing in the Eastern Division of the Western Hockey League, formerly the Western Canadian Hockey League (WCHL). They are based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, playing at the 15,195-seat SaskTel Centre. History The Saskatoon Blades began play in 1964. The ''Abbotsford News'' is a Canadian community newspaper in Abbotsford, British Columbia published by Black Press. ''The News'' publishes more than 40,000 copies two times a week distributed across Abbotsford and also the adjacent municipality of Mission. ''The News'' claims to be one of the first community newspapers in the province due to its roots from the ''Abbotsford Post'' established in 1906 by Mission publisher John A. Bates. The Post was sold in 1922 and changed its name to ''Abbotsford, Sumas and Matsqui News''. Other sales to new owners occurred in 1938 and 1962. Black Press purchased The News in 1997. The Legends Cup, formerly known as the Lingerie Bowl, is the championship game of the Legends Football League (formerly Lingerie Football League). It features a game of full-contact American football with female athletes playing seven-on-seven tackle football. The players in the game wear helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads, knee pads, bras and underwear. Western Hockey League
The Western Hockey League (WHL) is a major junior ice hockey league based in Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. The WHL is one of three leagues that constitutes the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) as the highest level of junior hockey in Canada. The Regina Rage were a women's football team in the Lingerie Football League (LFL) and played in the 2012 LFL Canada season. Based in Regina, Saskatchewan, the Rage played its home games at the Brandt Centre. SaskTel Centre (formerly Credit Union Centre, and originally Saskatchewan Place; informally also known as ''Sask Place'') is an arena located in the Agriplace Industrial Park, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The BC Angels were a women's football team in the Lingerie Football League (LFL) and played in the 2012 LFL Canada season. Based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, (70 kilometres away from Vancouver) the Angels played their home games at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. The Toronto Triumph was a team in the Lingerie Football League that began play in the 2011–12 season. Based in Toronto, Ontario, they played their inaugural season at the Ricoh Coliseum. When they joined LFL Canada for the 2012 season, they played their home games at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The Triumph ceased operations after the 2012 LFL Canada season.
