Saskatoon Nutana South
Saskatoon Nutana South was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. This district was located in the southeast corner of Saskatoon. It was created for the 16th Saskatchewan general election out of part of the five-seat Saskatoon City riding. It was abolished in 1975 into Saskatoon Buena Vista and Saskatoon Eastview. William Austin Forsyth
William Austin Forsyth (June 20, 1917 – June 19, 2001) was a Canadian politician who represented Saskatoon Nutana South as a Saskatchewan Liberal Party, Liberal in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 16th Saskatchewan Legislature, 1967 to 1971. He was born in Saskatoon, of Scotland, Scottish parentage and was a veteran of the Royal Air Force in World War II. The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. Herman Harold Rolfes (born July 13, 1936) was a Saskatchewan educator and politician who has held provincial office, as a former member of the Saskatchewan provincial legislature. He has won a number of significant recognized awards and honours over his lifetime career. Life before politics The son of Joseph Rolfes and Josephine Heckmann, he was educated at St. Peter's College, at the Saskatoon Teacher's College and at the University of Saskatchewan. He served as principal for a number of elementary schools and as director of guidance for Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon. In 1961, Rolfes married Myrna Josephine Hopfner. 1971 Saskatchewan General Election
The 1971 Saskatchewan general election was held on June 23, 1971, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. Under the leadership of Allan Blakeney, the New Democratic Party of Saskatchewan returned to power after seven years in opposition. The NDP won a majority government, increasing its share of the popular vote by over 10 percentage points. The Liberal government of Premier Ross Thatcher more or less held its share of the popular vote, but lost a significant number of seats in the legislature in part because of the continuing decline in the share of the vote won by the Progressive Conservative Party, now led by Ed Nasserden.
