Saskatchewan Highway Patrol
The Ministry of Highways is divided into the Operations, Policy and Programs, and Corporate Services Divisions and the Communications Branch. The ministry is the employer of over 1,476 employees diversified amongst 105 communities in Saskatchewan. The current Minister of Highways and Infrastructure is Fred Bradshaw. Operations Division The Operation Division has the responsibility of maintaining of asphalt concrete pavements, of granular pavements, of thin membrane surface (TMS) highways, of gravel highways, of ice roads, bridges, large culverts, 12 ferries, one barge and 17 northern airports. The Lemsford Ferry is a cable ferry in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The ferry carries Highway 649 across the South Saskatchewan River at Lemsford. The ferry is located near Lemsford Ferry Regional Park. The ferry is operated by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure and is free of toll. The ferry operates only while the river is ice free, typically from mid April to mid November. During this time, the ferry runs on demand from 7:00 A.M. CST to midnight. Tecumseh ( ; October 5, 1813) was a Shawnee chief and warrior who promoted resistance to the expansion of the United States onto Native American lands. A persuasive orator, Tecumseh traveled widely, forming a Native American confederacy and promoting intertribal unity. Even though his efforts to unite Native Americans ended with his death in the War of 1812, he became an iconic folk hero in American, Indigenous, and Canadian popular history. Tecumseh was born in what is now Ohio, at a time when the far-flung Shawnees were reuniting in their Ohio Country homeland. George Spence (Canadian Politician)
George Spence, (October 25, 1880 – March 4, 1975) was a Canadian provincial and federal politician. Born in Birsay, Orkney Islands, Scotland, the son of Thomas Spence and Elizabeth Hunter, he studied electrical engineering at the Leith Academy Technical College and emigrated to Canada in 1900 to pan for gold in the Yukon. In 1903, he moved to Austin, Manitoba where he was a farmer. In 1912, he moved to Monchy, Saskatchewan. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in 1917 for the riding of Notukeu. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1921 and 1925. Saskatchewan Highway 11
Highway 11 is a major north-south highway in Saskatchewan, Canada that connects the province's three largest cities: Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert. It is a structural pavement major arterial highway which is approximately long. It is also known as the Louis Riel Trail (LRT) after the 19th century Métis leader. It runs from Highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) in Regina until Highway 2 south of Prince Albert. The Wollaston Lake Barge Ferry is a barge ferry that operates in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District of the province. The ferry crosses Wollaston Lake, providing a link between Highways 905 and 995 and the community of Wollaston Lake, Saskatchewan. The barge is operated by the Hatchet Lake Dene Nation under contract to the Government of Saskatchewan.
