Saskatchewan Highway 924
Highway 924, also known as Elaine Lake Road, is a provincial highway in the north-west region of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It runs from Highway 55 near Cowan Dam Recreation Site at the source of the Cowan River to the community of Dore Lake on Doré Lake. The highway connects with Highway 916. It is about long. Highway 924 was originally designated as ''Highway 124'', but was renumbered in the early 1980s as part of the establishment of the 900-series highways. Communities and recreation Highway 924 provides access to the communities of Dore Lake, Sled Lake and Michel Point, as well as the provincial recreation sites of Shirley Lake and Beaupré Creek. Lakes accessed from the highway include Doré Lake, Beaupré Lake, Shirley Lake, Sled Lake, and Cowan Lake. Shirley Lake Recreation Site () is accessed from a short road off of Highway 924. Cowan Lake (Saskatchewan)
Cowan Lake is a lake in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan in the Beaver River watershed. The primary inflow for the lake is Big River at the lake's southern end by the town of Big River and the outflow, located near the lake's northern end, is Cowan River at Cowan Lake Dam. The dam was originally built in 1937 and was upgraded in 1971. It is high and the total volume of the reservoir created by the dam is . Highway 55 follows the length of the lake along its eastern shore and Highway 942 runs up most of the length of the western shore. Parks and recreation At the southern end of Cowan Lake at the town of Big River is Big River Regional Park (). The park has a campground and boat launch on the lake's shore. Beaupré Lake is a lake Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is located in Saskatchewan's Northern Administration District in the Boreal Shield Ecozone of Canada. Access to the lake is from Highway 924. Description Beaupré Lake is situated in boreal forest surrounded by glacier-carved hills and muskeg. Several small creeks feed into the lake with the primary inflow being the Mirasty River, which originates at Mirasty Lake. Beaupré Creek, located at Christie Bay at the lake's western end, is the outflow. Beaupré Creek flows west from Beaupré Lake and into Sled Lake. This is a list of protected areas of Saskatchewan. National parks Provincial parks The Government of Canada, federal government transferred control of natural resources to the Western Canada, western provinces in 1930 with the Natural Resources Acts. At that time, the Saskatchewan government set up its own Department of Natural Resources. In an attempt to get people working and to encourage tourism during the Great Depression, several projects were set up by the government, including setting up a provincial park system in 1931.
