Sascha Faxe (born 4 August 1971) is a Danish politician who has served as Member of the Folketing for The Alternative since the 2022 election. Career Despite standing and receiving 1,192 votes in the 2019 election, Faxe was not elected and rather served as primary substitute in the Zealand constituency. She announced her candidacy for leadership of The Alternative after Uffe Elbæk stepped down, but was beaten out by Josephine Fock. Zealand (Folketing Constituency)
Zealand ( da, Sjælland) is one of the 12 multi-member constituencies of the Folketing, the national legislature of Denmark. The constituency was established in 2007 following the public administration structural reform. The Alternative (Denmark)
The Alternative ( da, Alternativet) is a green political party in Denmark. The party was publicly launched on 27 November 2013 by former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock; Elbæk had been a parliamentarian for the Social Liberal Party. Elbæk was the leader of the party until February 2020, where he stepped down and was succeeded by Fock. Currently the party is led by Franciska Rosenkilde. 2022 Danish General Election
General elections were held in the Kingdom of Denmark on 1 November 2022, except in the Faroe Islands, where they were held on 31 October as 1 November was a national day of mourning for victims at sea. Of the 179 members of the Folketing, 175 were elected in Denmark proper, two in the Faroes and two in Greenland. The elections were called on 5 October following an ultimatum to the government by the Social Liberal Party (which had been providing external support) due to the outcome of a report on the 2020 Danish mink cull by the Mink Commission, which was critical of the government. Voter turnout was 84% in Denmark, 48% in Greenland, and 71% in the Faroes with a combined turnout of 84% for the Realm as a whole. Uffe Elbæk
Uffe Elbæk (born 15 June 1954) is a Danish politician, social worker, author, journalist, entrepreneur. In 2013 he founded the green political party The Alternative, which he led until February 2020. He is an independent member of the Folketing. From 3 October 2011 to December 2012, he served as the Danish Minister of Culture. He was originally a member of the Danish Social Liberal Party, but left in September 2013 to launch The Alternative with Josephine Fock. Elbæk announced on 16 December 2019 that he would stand down as political leader of The Alternative on 1 February 2020. After leaving The Alternative's leadership, Elbæk subsequently left the party completely before joining with two other Alternative parliamentarians to form the new Independent Greens in September 2020. Josephine Fock
Josephine Fock (born 5 September 1965) is a Danish politician, who was a member of the Folketing for The Alternative from 2015 to 2018. She was the leader of the party from 1 February to 14 November 2020 after Uffe Elbæk resigned. Political career Born in Aarhus, Fock was elected into parliament at the 2015 Danish general election. In 2018 she was offered a job for the Danish Refugee Council and she resigned her seat in parliament on 1 November 2018. Julius Graakjær Grantzau took over her seat. On 16 December 2019 the leader of the Alternative, Uffe Elbæk, announced that he would like to pass on the leadership. On 1 February 2020 Fock became the party's new leader.
