Sasaram (Vidhan Sabha Constituency)
Sasaram Assembly constituency is one of 243 legislative assembly of legislative assembly of Bihar. It comes under Sasaram lok sabha constituency. Overview Sasaram comprises community blocks of Sasaram & Tilouthu. Earlier Rohtas block and Nauhatta block also came under the Sasaram assembly constituency but after the delimitation of 2009 these two blocks began comprising Chenari Vidhansabha. Social equation Sasaram constituency is dominated by Kushwahas, as a result of which, from 1980 to 2015, in all the assembly elections, only candidates belonging to this caste group has been elected from this constituency. The victory of Ram Sewak Singh in 1980 bihar assembly elections was followed by victory of only Kushwaha candidates from this seat and from the 1990 onwards, the second as well as third runner-ups were also from the same caste. 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
The Bihar Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases through October–November to elect members to the Seventeenth Bihar Legislative Assembly. The term of the previous Sixteenth Legislative Assembly of Bihar ended on 29 November 2020. The election was held in three phases for a total of 243 seats:- the first for 71 seats on 28 October 2020, the second for 94 seats on 3 November 2020, and the third for the remaining 78 seats on 7 November 2020. The counting of votes began on 10 November 2020 and the incumbent National Democratic Alliance emerged as the winner with 125 elected MLAs, whereas the principal opposition coalition of Mahagathbandhan won 110 seats. October 2005 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
Bihar Assembly elections were held twice in the year 2005. There was a fractured verdict in the ''February 2005 Assembly Election''. Since no government could be formed in Bihar, fresh elections were held in ''October–November'' the same year. Rashtriya Janata Dal
The Rashtriya Janata Dal ( RJD; translation: ''National People's Party'') is an Indian political party, based in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Kerala. The party was founded in 1997 by Lalu Prasad Yadav. The party's support base has traditionally been Other Backward Classes, Dalits and Muslims and it is considered a political champion of the lower castes. Ashok Kumar better known as Ashok Kushwaha is a former Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Sasaram Assembly constituency. He was a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal, and was elected in the 2000 Bihar assembly elections as well as the 2015 Bihar assembly elections. Jawahar Prasad is an Indian politician and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Sasaram Assembly constituency. Prasad is a five term Member of Legislative Assembly from Sasaram; he was elected as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party. Prasad has also been associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in early part of his life. He became an active member of Sangh in 1989, and in 1990 election to Bihar Assembly, he was elected for the first time. Political career In 1990 Bihar Assembly elections, Prasad defeated Bipin Bihari Sinha. He secured 42,956 votes in his favour compared to 24,261 votes in favour of Sinha.
