Sasami (album)
''Sasami'' is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter and musician Sasami, released on March 8, 2019, through Domino Recording Company, Domino. Background and release On April 3, 2018, Sasami shared her first solo track "Callous" on SoundCloud. On October 9, Domino Recording Company announced that Sasami had signed to their label, and officially released "Callous" alongside a new song titled "Not the Time", premiered by ''The Fader''. The songs were released on a 7-inch single, 7" vinyl on October 26. On January 9, Sasami released the third single, "Jealousy", and its music video, alongside an announcement of the album and a pre-order. A fourth single, "Free" featuring Devendra Banhart, was released on February 14, before the album was released on March 8 on Domino. Writing and recording Sasami wrote the album while playing keyboards and guitar on tour with Cherry Glazerr, and shortly recorded it as a string of demos to her iPad. She began her career as a member of Cherry Glazerr but went solo in 2018. Her most recent album, '' Squeeze'', was released in 2022. Career Early life Sasami Ashworth comes from a Zainichi family. After shei graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2012, she scored and made orchestral arrangements for films, commercials and studio albums, and worked as a music teacher in Los Angeles, where she is currently based. Moog Modular Synthesizer
The Moog synthesizer is a modular synthesizer developed by the American engineer Robert Moog. Moog debuted it in 1964, and Moog's company R. A. Moog Co. (later known as Moog Music) produced numerous models from 1965 to 1981, and again from 2014. It was the first commercial synthesizer, and is credited with creating the analog synthesizer as it is known today. The Moog synthesizer consists of separate modules which create and shape sounds, which are connected via patch cords. Phonograph Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. It had co-existed with the phonograph cylinder from the late 1880s and had effectively superseded it by around 1912. Records retained the largest market share even when new formats such as the compact cassette were mass-marketed. Stéphanie Alexandra Mina Sokolinski (born 26 October 1985), and known professionally as Soko (stylized as SoKo), is a French singer, songwriter, actress and dancer. She has been active since 2002. Soko released her debut single "I'll Kill Her" in 2007. It achieved airplay success in several European countries as well as Australia, being the No. 1 song on the Danish version of iTunes and peaking at No. 3 on the Denmark music charts. Beach Fossils is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2009. They are currently signed to Bayonet Records, having previously been signed to indie label Captured Tracks. The group's live band currently includes founder Dustin Payseur (vocals, guitar), Jack Doyle Smith (bass), Tommy Davidson (guitar), and Anton Hochheim (drums). They are known for their lo-fi, atmospheric sound, confessional and nostalgic lyrics, and Payseur's laid back vocal style. Payseur originally conceived the project in late 2008 when he moved to New York City after leaving school in his home state of North Carolina.
