''Sargon II'' is a sequel to '' Sargon''. Both are computer chess programs for home computers. Development The Spracklens made significant improvements on the original program and released ''Sargon II''. In 1978 it tied for third at the ninth North American Computer Chess Championship despite being seeded ninth of 12 entries. ''Sargon'' finished only behind Belle and Chess 4.7, and defeated AWIT—running on a $5 million Amdahl mainframe—amazing the audience. That year they published a series of articles in ''BYTE'' on computer chess programming, stating "we think it would be nice if not everyone had to reinvent the wheel". ''80 Micro'' was a computer magazine, published between 1980 and 1988, that featured program listings, products and reviews for the TRS-80. History Wayne Green, the creator of many magazines such as '' 73'', founded ''80 Microcomputing'' as a spinoff of his ''Kilobaud Microcomputing'' solely for Tandy Corporation's Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I microcomputer. ''Moves'' was a wargaming magazine originally published by Simulations Publications, SPI (Simulations Publications, Inc.), who also published manual wargames. Their flagship magazine ''Strategy & Tactics'' (''S&T''), was a military history magazine featuring a new wargame in each issue. While S&T was devoted to historical articles, ''Moves'' focused on the play of the games. Each issue carried articles dealing with strategies for different wargames, tactical tips, and many variants and scenarios for existing games. Tim Harding (chess Player)
Timothy David Harding (born 6 May 1948 in London) is a chess player and author with particular expertise in correspondence chess. He has lived in Dublin since 1976, writing a weekly column for The Sunday Press from then until 1995. Harding published a correspondence chess magazine ''Chess Mail'' from 1996 to 2006 and authored "The Kibitzer", a ChessCafe.com column from 1996 until 2015. In 2002, he was awarded the title Senior International Master of Correspondence Chess by the International Correspondence Chess Federation. He received the FIDE title of Candidate Master (CM) in 2015. In 2009, Harding received a PhD degree in history from University of Dublin, with his thesis on correspondence chess in Britain and Ireland, 1824–1914.
