The Sargasso Sea () is a region of the Atlantic Ocean bounded by four currents forming an ocean gyre. Unlike all other regions called seas, it has no land boundaries. It is distinguished from other parts of the Atlantic Ocean by its characteristic brown ''Sargassum'' seaweed and often calm blue water. The sea is bounded on the west by the Gulf Stream, on the north by the North Atlantic Current, on the east by the Canary Current, and on the south by the North Atlantic Equatorial Current, the four together forming a clockwise-circulating system of ocean currents termed the North Atlantic Gyre. It lies between 20° and 35° north and 40° and 70° west and is approximately wide by long. Bermuda is near the western fringes of the sea. ''The Night Land'' is a horror/fantasy novel by English writer William Hope Hodgson, first published in 1912. As a work of fantasy it belongs to the Dying Earth subgenre. Hodgson also published a much shorter version of the novel, entitled '' The Dream of X'' (1912). Publication history ''The Night Land'' was revived in paperback by Ballantine Books, which republished the work in two parts as the 49th and 50th volumes of its Ballantine Adult Fantasy series in July 1972. ''The Boats of the "Glen Carrig"'' is a horror novel by English writer William Hope Hodgson, first published in 1907.Keith Neilson, in Frank N. Magill (ed.), ''Survey of Modern Fantasy Literature'', Volume One. Englewood Cliffs, NJ: Salem Press, Inc., 1983. (pp. 143-145). Its importance was recognised in its later revival in paperback by Ballantine Books as the twenty-fifth volume of the celebrated ''Ballantine Adult Fantasy series'' in February 1971. The novel is written in an archaic style, and is presented as a true account, written in 1757, of events occurring earlier.
