Sarawak Stadium
Sarawak Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kuching, Malaysia. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 40,000 spectators. History It was built in 1995 for the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship. The stadium is adjacent to the old stadium, the Sarawak State Stadium (''Stadium Negeri'') that was previously used to stage various tournaments and championship. The stadium is the home of Sarawak FA, a local council football team. However, due to damaged facilities and stadium renovation, Sarawak FA currently playing in the State Stadium until the renovation complete before the 2016 Sukma Games. The cup exists alongside the youth competition for Under-19 players, the Piala Belia. History Since its inception in 1985, Piala Presiden has been the major tournament for Under-21 and Under-23 players. The format for the tournament has seen a lot of changes as in 2009 the format of the competition was changed with only Under-20 players eligible to be fielded for the tournament. In 2015, the format of the competition was reverted to the original format with Under-21 players and three overage players eligible to play. Sarawak FA State Football Team ( ms, Pasukan Bola Sepak Negeri Sarawak) was a defunct football team which represented the Malaysian region (formerly state) of Sarawak from 1974 to 2020 in the Malaysian football league. It was one of the 14 Malaysian state teams of the Malaysian football league system, Malaysian football structure before the Malaysian football league demanded all teams competing in the country's top two leagues to be run as or changed to professional clubs by 2021.
