Sarah Webb (sailor)
Sarah Kathleen Gosling (Nee Webb) (born 13 January 1977 in Ashford, Surrey) is a British professional sailor and twice Olympic gold medalist. Sailing career Webb joined the Royal Yachting Association's youth squad and competed in the Laser Radial class in the ISAF Youth World Championships in 1995 and 1996. She won a gold medal in the Yngling sailing class in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, together with Shirley Robertson and Sarah Ayton, collectively nicknamed "Three Blondes in a Boat." She repeated this success in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, together with Pippa Wilson and Sarah Ayton. In early 2007, Webb appeared on and won BBC cookery programme Ready Steady Cook against fellow Olympic medallist Nick Rogers. Sarah Webb is an American painter closely associated with Contemporary Realism. She is best known for her realist portrayal of contemporary European society and figurative studies of the modern woman. Early life and studies Sarah Webb was born in February 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee, where she was the fourth of five children born to Samuel Stone Butler and Carolyn Horton. Webb developed an early interest in art and by the age of twelve was taking classes in general art and oil painting. Settling on a career in fine art, she received her formal art training at the University of Tennessee, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors. Later she did post graduate work at Vanderbilt University. In 1977, she took the first of many trips to the United Kingdom and Europe to continue her art studies on an independent basis. Sarah Webb (died 4 September 2011) was a British housing professional who served as chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing from 2008 until 2011. Education Webb studied Anthropology at the University of St Andrews before studying Housing at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Sarah Webb is an Irish writer. Biography Webb writes for both children and adults and has had her work published in multiple languages across a number of countries. Webb completed her degree in English and History of Art at Trinity College Dublin. She started as a writer while working full time in a bookshop and writing at night. Today Webb is considered a significant force for children's books in Ireland. In 2015 she was awarded the CBI Book of the Year Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Children's Books in Ireland. Her books ''Blazing a Trail: Irish Women Who Changed the World'', illustrated by Lauren O’Neill, and ''A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea'', illustrated by Steve McCarthy, have both won Irish Book Awards.
