Sarah Maclaine is an Australian singer and songwriter. She is known for performing regularly on Good Morning Australia. She is also a performer at International Jazz festivals. She has released an album titled "The Heart of Me". Career In 1997 she started performing on Good Morning Australia, hosted by Bert Newton. She sang on the show regularly until it stopped airing in 2006, appearing approximately eighty times over that period. As well as Good Morning Australia she has also appeared and sung on other television shows such as Hey Hey it's Saturday; Denise Drysdale's "Denise" morning programme ; The Good Friday Appeal; the AFL's Brownlow Medal. She has also featured in a number of television commercials. Good Morning Australia (or ''GMA''), also known as GMA with Bert Newton, originally titled ''The Morning Show'', was an Australian breakfast television variety program on Network Ten hosted by Bert Newton between 20 January 1992 and 16 December 2005 featuring regular segments and celebrity guests The program aired from 9:00am – 11:00am (9:00am – 11:30am for most of its run). Bert Newton
Albert Watson Newton (23 July 1938 – 30 October 2021) was an Australian media personality. He was a Logie Hall of Fame inductee, quadruple Gold Logie award-winning entertainer and radio, theatre and television personality and presenter. Newton hosted the Logie Awards ceremony on 19 occasions. Newton was known for his collaborations opposite Graham Kennedy and subsequently Don Lane on their respective variety shows as well as appearances with his wife, singer Patti Newton. Their two children are actor Matthew Newton and TV personality Lauren Newton. Newton started his career in radio broadcasting, primarily as an announcer before becoming a star and fixture of Australian television since its inception in 1956, and was considered both an industry pioneer, icon and one of the longest-serving television performers in the world. ''Hey Hey It's Saturday'' was a long-running variety television program on Australian television. It initially ran for 28 years on the Nine Network from 9 October 1971 to 20 November 1999, with a recess in 1978. Its host throughout its entire run was Daryl Somers, who later also became executive producer of the program. The original producer, Gavan Disney, left the program in the 1980s and Somers then jointly formed his own production company, Somers Carroll Productions, with comedy writer and on-screen partner Ernie Carroll, the performer of Somers' pink ostrich puppet sidekick Ossie Ostrich. On 25 July 2009, the Nine Network announced the show would return for two reunion specials in late 2009 and hinted if they rated strongly, the show could return full-time. Good Friday Appeal
The Good Friday Appeal is an annual fundraising activity on behalf of the Royal Children's Hospital, in Melbourne, Australia. The event occurs on Good Friday every year. In 2022, the appeal raised over $22 million, setting a new record. More than $345 million has been raised for the hospital since the appeal began in 1931. Individuals and businesses, clubs, schools and country towns throughout the state conduct activities to raise money for the hospital. The appeal is a non-political, non-denominational organisation that exists solely to financially support The Royal Children's Hospital. For the first time in 2014, the telethon was staged within the 2,500-seat Plenary theatre at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). Brownlow Medal
The Charles Brownlow Trophy, better known as the Brownlow Medal (and informally as "Charlie"), is awarded to the " best and fairest" player in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the home-and-away season, as determined by votes cast by the three officiating field umpires after each game. The Melbourne International Jazz Festival is an annual jazz music festival first held in Melbourne, Australia in 1998. The Festival takes place in concert halls, arts venues, jazz clubs and throughout the streets of Melbourne. Stylus (band)
Stylus were an Australian blue-eyed soul group formed in 1975. They were the only Australian act to be released by Motown Records in the USA. Stylus toured supporting George Benson, Average White Band, Ike & Tina Turner, and Little River Band. According to rock music historian, Ian McFarlane, Stylus "scored a number of hit singles and became very popular on the Australian pub and concert circuit". The group disbanded in 1979 and subsequently had various reunions. Ross Wilson (musician)
Ross Andrew Wilson (born 18 November 1947) is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician and producer. He is the co-founder and frontman of the long-standing rock groups Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock, as well as a number of other former bands, in addition to performing solo. He has produced records for bands such as Skyhooks and Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons, as well as for those of his own bands. He appeared as a judge on celebrity singing TV series '' It Takes Two'' from 2005.
