Sara Seiler
Sara Seiler (born January 25, 1983) was a forward for the Carleton Ravens women's ice hockey program of U Sports women's ice hockey. She was a member of the German team that competed at the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship and in Ice hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Women's tournament. Playing career In 2006-07, Seiler played for the Ottawa Raiders of the original NWHL, logging five assists in 32 regular season games. Carleton Ravens Sara Seiler was the first European in the history of the Carleton Ravens women's ice hockey program to have the captaincy bestowed upon her. In preparation for the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship, the Carleton Ice House served as the training facility for the Germany women's national ice hockey team. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. Germany Women's National Ice Hockey Team
The German women's national ice hockey team represents Germany at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship and other international ice hockey tournaments. The women's national team was ranked eighth in the IIHF World Ranking in 2020. It is organized under the direct administration of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB). The National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) was a women's ice hockey league established in Canada in service from 1999 to 2007. In its final season the league was run by the Ontario Women's Hockey Association. History The NWHL superseded the old Central Ontario Women's Hockey League in 1998–99. After the old COWHL dropped down to three teams in 1997–98, the new league expanded to Brampton, Ottawa and the Montreal area (Montreal, Bonaventure and Laval) in 1998–99. The Carleton Ravens are a collegiate women's ice hockey team based out of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Competing as the women's ice hockey team of Carleton University, the Ravens play in the Quebec Student Sports Federation (RSEQ), as part of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's ice hockey championship. The team plays its home games at the Carleton Ice House, typically on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The Ottawa Lady Senators is a women's ice hockey organization, based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The organization organizes teams in several age divisions, including Intermediate in the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL). The women's senior-level ice hockey team formerly played in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), until 2010.
