Saptagram, formerly known as Bansberia Assembly Constituency Assembly constituency ( bn, সপ্তগ্রাম বিধানসভা কেন্দ্র) is an assembly constituency in Hooghly district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Saptagram (Bengali: সপ্তগ্রাম; colloquially called ''Satgaon'') was a major port, the chief city and sometimes capital of southern Bengal, in ancient and medieval times, the location presently being in the Hooghly district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is about 4 km from Bandel, a major rail junction. 2011 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
Assembly election was held in Indian state of West Bengal in 2011 to elect the members of West Bengal Legislative Assembly as the term of the incumbent government was about to expire naturally. It was held in six phases between 18 April and 10 May 2011 for all the 294 seats of the ''Vidhan Sabha''. The Trinamool Congress won an absolute majority of seats. 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
A Legislative Assembly election was held in 2016 for the 294 seats (out of 295 seats) of the '' Vidhan Sabha'' (Vidhān Sabhā) in the state of West Bengal in India. The All India Trinamool Congress under Mamata Banerjee won 211 seats, and thus was reelected with an enhanced majority. Like in the 2011 election, the poll was held in six phases, with the first phase divided into two days. 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election for 292 of the 294 constituencies in West Bengal was held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021. Saptagram is a village and a gram panchayat in Chinsurah Mogra CD Block in Chinsurah subdivision of Hooghly district in the state of West Bengal, India. History In ancient times, there was a flourishing port town at Saptagram. The Saraswati started drying up from the 17th century and ships, which navigated up the river, could no longer do so. By the early twentieth century, the place had dwindled to a group of insignificant huts.
