Saoirse Irish Freedom
''Saoirse Irish Freedom'' is the monthly organ of Republican Sinn Féin (RSF). It replaced '' Republican Bulletin'' the first issue of which appeared in November, 1986 to explain the reasons for the split in Sinn Féin. Its format was eight A4 pages, continuing monthly until, in May 1987. In November of that year, ''Saoirse'' became an eight-page tabloid. Since then, the paper has been produced as a 16-page monthly magazine. In June 1996 RSF first published an issue via the Internet. The name ''Saoirse Irish Freedom'' is taken from the 1910 - 1914 publication, Irish Freedom''. ''The Socialist'' is the official newspaper of the Socialist Party in Ireland. Published once a month, it is also available online. The newspaper first appeared intermittently in the early 1990s following the expulsion of members of Militant tendency from the Labour Party. The grouping became known as Militant Labour and later, the Socialist Party. The paper describes itself as ''providing a unique socialist analysis of political events''. The Continuity Irish Republican Army (Continuity IRA or CIRA), styling itself as the Irish Republican Army (), is an Irish republican paramilitary group that aims to bring about a united Ireland. ''The Starry Plough'' () () is the official newsletter (Initally a newspaper, then a magazine) of the Irish Republican Socialist Party. In 2006 it proclaimed on its website that "The Starry Plough is the only paper that stands firmly against British rule and for the destruction of capitalism in Ireland." The paper also focuses on socialist solidarity issues around the world. History The name of the paper is taken from the flag of the same name. The decision to use the name ''the Starry Plough'' was inspired by a newspaper produced by Official Sinn Féin in Derry City in the early 1970s. Republican Sinn Féin or RSF ( ga, Sinn Féin Poblachtach) is an Irish republican political party in Ireland. RSF claims to be heirs of the Sinn Féin party founded in 1905 and took its present form in 1986 following a split in Sinn Féin. RSF members take seats when elected to local government in the Republic of Ireland, but do not recognise the validity of the Partition of Ireland. It subsequently does not recognise the legitimacy of the parliaments of Northern Ireland ( Stormont) or the Republic of Ireland (Leinster House), so the party does not register itself with them. The party emerged around the supporters of Ruairí Ó Brádaigh and Dáithí Ó Conaill. ''Irish Freedom'' was launched in November 1910, as an Irish monthly publication of the Irish Republican Brotherhood movement. It lasted for four years until suppressed in 1914 by the British administration in Ireland. It was founded in by Tom Clarke in 1910 with financial help from John Daly and Patrick McCartan.
