Sant’Antonio Abate is a 14th-century church and convent located in Cascia, province of Perugia, region of Umbria, Italy. History The convent was founded by the Benedictine order, and the church was frescoed in 14th century with frescoed by a painter (or painters) known as the ''Master of the Dormition'', depicting the ''Life of St Anthony Abbot''. A second series of frescoes depicting the ''Passion of Christ'' was painted in the second half of the 15th century by Nicola da Siena Nicola di Ulisse, also known as Nicola da Siena or Nicola di Ulisse da Siena (active 1442 - 1470) was an Italian painter of the Umbro- Sienese school. Nicola was born in Siena, but was documented in Norcia by 1442, at work in the choir of Sant†.... The choir has a 15th-century wooden sculpture of ''Tobias and the Angel''. On the counterfacade is an organ installed in 1630 by Luca Neri of Leonessa.

Cascia
Cascia () is a town and ''comune'' (municipality) of the Italian province of Perugia in a rather remote area of the mountainous southeastern corner of Umbria. It is about 21 km from Norcia on the road to Rieti in the Lazio (63 km). It is also very close to Terni. History The modern territory of Cascia was the home of the Roman settlement of ''Carsulae'', destroyed in the 1st century BC by an earthquake. In the Middle Ages it was sacked by the Byzantines and the Lombards, and was later a fief of the Trinci family. It was occupied by Papal troops in the 15th century, and thenceforth it was a Papal town until the unification of Italy in 1860. Cascia was the home of Saint Rita of Cascia, who was born in the nearby ''frazione'' of Roccaporena in 1381 and died there in 1457. Nicola Da Siena
Nicola di Ulisse, also known as Nicola da Siena or Nicola di Ulisse da Siena (active 1442 - 1470) was an Italian painter of the Umbro-Sienese school. Nicola was born in Siena, but was documented in Norcia by 1442, at work in the choir of Sant’ Agostino with a group of painters, including Bartolommeo di Tommaso from Foligno; Luca di Lorenzo from Germany; Giambono di Corrado of Ragusa; and Andrea de Litio. He also painted for the Abbey of Sant’Eutizio in Spoleto. He died after 1472. Among his masterworks, is a series of frescoes depicting the ''Passion of Christ'', painted for the church of Sant'Antonio Abate in Cascia, Umbria.
