Santoshpur is a neighbourhood in the southern part of Kolkata, India. It is loosely bounded by Garfa to the north, the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass to the east, Jadavpur to the west and Baghajatin to the south. History of Santoshpur area From the 1950s This area was initially part of Jadavpur. The area was mainly shallow marshy lands and agricultural fields even as late as the seventies. Some houses were built in the fifties and sixties mostly on the eastern side of the Jadavpur Rail Station. Kolkata Metro Line 6 or the Orange Line of the Kolkata Metro is an under-construction rapid transit line that will connect New Garia with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport via two satellite towns Salt Lake and New Town. Baghajatin is a locality of South Kolkata in West Bengal, India. It has been named in honour of Jatindranath Mukherjee whose nom de guerre was Bagha (Tiger) Jatin. It is located in the southern part of the city and is surrounded by Jadavpur and Santoshpur in the north, Chak Garia and Panchasayar in the east, Baishnabghata Patuli Township in the south and Bijoygarh and Regent Estate in the west. Eastern Metropolitan Bypass
The Eastern Metropolitan Bypass (known simply as both ''E.M. Bypass'' and ''EM Bypass'') is a (Including Kamalgazi to Baruipur extension) major road on the east side of Kolkata. It connects Ultadanga (North Kolkata) to Baruipur Puratan Bazar (South Kolkata). The road is a major link to Salt Lake and New Town. EM Bypass is part of both State Highway 1 and State Highway 3. Much high-end construction and development in Kolkata has been centred around the Bypass. It was designed as a six to eight-lane bypass to lessen traffic congestion on the entire stretch of Gariahat Road. Garfa
Garfa is a southern neighborhood of Kolkata, India. This area is surrounded by Haltu, Nandi bagan, Jadavpur and Kalikapur. Starting as a refugee colony within Jadavpur, Garfa is now primarily a residential area within Kolkata. Geography Garfa police station is in the South Suburban division of Kolkata Police. It is located at Garfa Deaf and Dumb School Premises. Patuli Women police station has jurisdiction over all police districts under the jurisdiction of the South Suburban Division i.e. Netaji Nagar, Jadavpur, Bansdroni, Garfa, and Patuli.
