Santos (film)
''Santos'' is a 2008 Spanish-Chilean comedy film directed and written by Nicolás López which stars Javier Gutiérrez, Elsa Pataky, Leonardo Sbaraglia, and Guillermo Toledo. Billed as a "romantic comedy about the end of the world", it is López's sophomore feature after ''Promedio rojo''. Boasting a budget of around $6 million, it turned out to be a "monumental bust". Plot An interdimensional traveller known as Antropomosco discloses to comic book artist Salvador Santos the real identity of the latter's friend Arturo Antares as that of the supervillain Nova. Santos undergoes the hero's journey to rescue love interest Laura Luna from Nova's grip. Nicolás López (director)
Nicolás Javier López Fernández (born March 16, 1983) is a Chilean film director, producer and screenwriter. He is known for comedies such as ''Promedio Rojo'' (2004), the ''Qué pena'' trilogy (2010-2012), and the Paz Bascuñán vehicles '' Sin filtro'' (2016) and ''No estoy loca'' (2018). In June 2018, a few months after López begun working on a film project about the MeToo movement, the magazine ''Sábado'' of ''El Mercurio'' published a report where various actresses made claims of sexual and workplace abuses against him. In an ensuing trial, López was in 2022 found guilty of two sexual abuse charges and sentenced to five years and one day in prison. Life and work López became interested in filmmaking at a young age. The Sitges Film Festival ( ca, Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya, links=no) is an annual film festival held in Sitges, Spain, specialized in fantasy and horror films, of which it is considered one of the world's foremost international festivals.
