The Santissima Annunziata Maggiore is a basilica church located in the quartieri Pendino near Forcella, in the historic center of Naples, Italy. History In the ancient Roman era, the city baths and gymnasium of ''Neapolis'' were located in this area. In 1318, Sancia of Majorca, the queen consort of Robert, King of Naples, ceded some land to the lay Congregation of the Santissima Annunziata to establish an institution for care of ''foundlings''. The original church was located at the site of the current hospital, since fragments of 14th-century frescoes of the school of Roberto d'Odirisio were found there. The Angevin church however was razed by 1513, when a larger church was started. the architect Ferdinando Manlio, was likely involved. The bell tower was commissioned by the Baron Troiano di Somma. Giuseppe D'Amato
Giuseppe D’Amato is an Italian historian, specializing in Russia and the former USSR, and a columnist of international politics. Biography After getting a decree in Italy in the nineteen eighties, D'Amato became a scholar of the Russian academician Sigurd Ottovich Schmidt (in Russian Шмидт, Сигурд Оттович) at Moscow’s Historical-Archive Institute (Russian State University for the Humanities) in the nineteen Nineties. He got a Ph.D. in history. Writing D’Amato wrote a book about Italian travellers to Russia in the 15th -16th centuries and studied Russian-Italian relationships. Some of his articles have been published in languages other than Italian. Giuliano Finelli
Giuliano Finelli (1601–1653) was an Italian Baroque sculptor who emerged from the workshop of Bernini. He was born in Carrara to a family of marble masons in a town associated with mining of the stone, and he initially trained with Michelangelo Naccherino. He was active in Bernini's studio for a few years, but he broke with Bernini in 1629, when he felt slighted by the awarding of the choice commission of a ''Saint Helena'' statue for the crossing of St Peter's to Andrea Bolgi. He is also purported to have also been slighted by failure to be recognized as the detail master behind the ''Apollo and Daphne'' statue of Bernini. For some time, he found occasional work, often with the support of Pietro da Cortona. The difference between the two sculptors, Bernini and Finelli, was slight. Fedele Fischetti (30 March 1732 – 25 January 1792) was an Italian painter of the Neoclassical period. He was born and died in Naples the capital of the Kingdom of Naples. Biography F. Giacinto Diano or Diana (28 March 1731 – 13 August 1803) was an Italian painter, active in Southern Italy in a style that mixes Rococo and Neoclassicism. Life Giacinto was born in Pozzuoli, and died in Naples. He trained in the studio of Francesco De Mura, whose work would influence his early compositions.
